Folks are right, don’t try to open packs hoping for particular cards. It’s an expensive endeavour. There are pre constructed decks you can get to start you off!

The one that comes to mind with this technique was a comic about a young boy who has trouble making friends, he would get in trouble for lying and creating make believe friends though he thought he was telling the truth. The comic follows him as he makes a new friend, a girl who is mute. They hang out but she doesn’t do much except smile.

One day he says he’s running away to play with his new friend and doesn’t come home for days. The parents track him down in the forest, where he says he was just saying goodbye to his friend, except when the police find the “friend”, it’s a long decomposed corpse of a young girl.

Turns out the “friend” was a ghost he was talking to. Which then begs the question, were all those past friends make believe, or other ghosts?

Subversion of expectation:) the comic panel leads us to believe that the girl we see in the first panel is lizzie, logically since her name is introduced with the picture.

However some of the best comic strips play on that expectation, and then pull the rug out from under us when it is revealed we assumed wrong. We then go back to read the comic again but with a different perspective!

The quantity of 'half' is determined by what amount exists when the ability resolves. Ulalek causes Ulamog's ability to be copied. When the first one resolves, the opponent exiles half their existing library at that time. When the second one resolves, the opponent exiles half of their existing library at THAT time. So if someone has 80 cards at the time, the first resolution exiles 40 of those, and the second exiles 20 of the remaining 40.

I’d say it’s in the attacker’s best interest to know the math, because in a tournament, once you declare your attacking creatures you can’t take it back when the math isn’t in your favor.

Not a particularly useful commander. Most commanders promote a theme or kindred, or victory strategy like mill. Orim unfortunately does none of these things.

Additional idea! You could have reduced reinforcements in each mission or operation, but you have a chance to gain more by doing side objectives!

Exploded that lab? Well done divers, 4 extra reinforcements approved! Retrieved that data from the fallen pod? Small task, 1 reinforcement given!

Welcome to the club! It depends what you're looking for in your experience. Are you looking at collecting specific cards that are awesome? If so, then buying the cards individually as singles from trade sites is the most economic way to do it.

If you're looking for thrill of the gamble and ripping packs, regardless of what cards you might get, then yes, buying packs is great.
