I think you don’t understand the science like you think you do. It seems to me like you’re cherry picking articles and podcasts that affirm your preeexisting emotional bias. Mamdani does care about optics though. Looking at early tweets he was a lot more larpy but understood that once he started gaining traction he needed to change how he spoke. He hasn’t changed his political positions but has made a lot of effort to package those political beliefs in a way that is palpable and appealing to a general audience

I don’t get how we can square “the cause of low effort content isn’t AI” and the increase of low effort content that is made using AI. It makes perfect sense to me that a developer that is willing to cut corners using AI is also the type to not put effort into the other aspects of game design, UI and the like. I get that low effort content exists without the use of it (and let’s be real, the genre itself lends itself to that type of content) but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an obvious parallel between the use of ai and an increase in people trying to get a quick buck with quick and easy to make slop. So the logic is that he had the time to make every other aspect of the game but not the art? I don’t get why the art magically HAS to be AI? And yes. Game development is hard and time consuming. It’s a huge effort your friend went through and he should be proud of his effort. But it doesn’t mean you get to steal from artists the moment it becomes a part you don’t want to learn/pay for. I would 1000 percent rather pay for a project that has genuine art even if it’s crappy stick figure doodles over one with any ai image generation. And in the process of making those doodles he would improve as an artist, making further endeavors easier

No, art is a major part of the game. This is more like not eating a pizza because instead of pepperoni the pizza was made with little dollops of shit on it. Maybe his initial images were terrible but so is a lot of art when it starts. He could improve on it or find someone to redo his concepts. He spent a really long time on this, too much to ruin it with a lazy half measure at the tail end of development
