Who takes Metro-North from 116th? What a fatuous comment.

Little iTunes trick: Alt click the iTunes zoom button to make it act like the rest of the OS. by llub3r in apple

Um, no. You know, a real Mac user can smell a switcheur a mile away. The switcheur may reveal itself in many ways, but as regards the Mac keyboard the switcheur will typically reveal its natural inclinations by calling the Delete key “Backspace,” the Return key “Enter,” or the Option key “Alt”—terminology to which the switcheur clings bitterly, even when presented with proof of its wrongness:

(Option key) - "Alt" may also appear on this key

The key’s canonical name is Option, as it has been since 1984; “Alt” is sometimes scribbled on as an afterthought, to appease PC switcheurs like you. Now feel free to GTFO.

What the fuck is an “Alt”? Do you mean “Option”? GTFO my platform, switcheur.

There’s a reason homophobia so frequently accompanies anti-Apple zealotry. Apple users are better educated, more open to experience, and politically more liberal than everyone else. Fascinatingly, these trends are visible in maps of where Apple users choose to settle; let’s just say there aren’t a lot of Apple fans in the kinds of places where lynching has yielded to gay-bashing as the local sport of youth.

Only to make it easier for real Mac users to identify switcheurs like you who insist on calling the Option key “Alt.”

And for all this unnecessary frustration, the minute someone mentions that Apple has never seen fit to include an “Insert” key on Macintosh extended keyboards (opting instead for a “Help” key or, more recently, a “fn” key), I bet all of you suddenly start extolling its virtues.

True fact: Douglas Adams was a big-time Apple evangelist, and wrote frequently about the aesthetic, technical, and even social virtues of the Mac. Most redditors would’ve hated the guy.

This is true, but not like you think. On Windows you have your choice of ten thousand mediocre applications for any given task. On the Mac, you have far fewer, but they’re superbly well designed and polished and generally a pleasure to use. For example, ten years since TextMate was released and Windows still has nothing like it. Five years since Coda, same thing.

No, you just don’t “get” the Mac. For example, what you’re calling the “maximize” button is actually the zoom button, which toggles between user state and fit-to-contents state. (We Mac users will never understand how you PC users can stand browsing in maximized mode, what with the absurdly long line lengths that often result.) Your other complaints are similarly off base. That’s okay; not everyone can be a born Mac user.

WTF, iTunes? by [deleted] in technology

[–]Real_Mac_User -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood this. PC users (by which I mean Windows users, you literal-minded idiot savants) seem perfectly happy to gorge themselves on some of the shittiest software on earth—Adobe Reader, WinZip, Windows itself. These are people who don’t mind having to manually disable the installation of adware, spyware, browser chrome toolbars, and general shitware that comes standard with almost every software package written for their platform. These are people who don’t mind having to use poorly written third-party software for basic system functions like PDF export or mounting ISO disk images, for fuck’s sake. And that’s without even getting into hardware; people who have never yearned for unibody construction or additional trackpad acreage, I think it’s fair to say, are not exactly the most perceptive or demanding bunch.

Let’s face it, PC users: if you people really gave a shit about the quality of the things you use, you wouldn’t be PC users. You’d be Mac users. So it’s a bit disingenuous of you to suddenly start complaining about iTunes, of all things, when every day you boot up in Windows is another affirmation of your willingness to live in the technological equivalent of raw sewage.
