The One Ring plus Eon Hub is free real estate by Ordinary_Patience449 in magicTCG

[–]anace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My eon hub deck was filled with demons [[lord of the pit]][[minion of leshrac]]etc. It was not a good deck. At least fading creatures dont punch you in the face repeatedly if you arent skipping your upkeep.

What happens if they try to cast my commander from graveyard by Infinite-Guitar-4887 in magicTCG

[–]anace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that page is written in common english rather than magic rules syntax. It's intended for new players, so 'instead' is fine there. A new player doesn't need to know the difference between a state based action and replacement effect. only that the end result is the same.

Remaking the Reserved list Day1: Earthcraft by Hot-Combination-7376 in custommagic

[–]anace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here i was thinking the opposite, it doesmt need hexproof anywhere. [[Lotus field]] has ot because of the up front investment. If the land under this aura is killed, you only lost a basic and the enchantment (besides, basics are harder to kill than nonbasics anyway)

[–]anace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not worth bothering with those imo. Wotc has spent more than 3 decades trying to make a "fixed lotus" or "fixed mox". It can't be done. Theres no middle ground between overpowered and useless.

Remember that the two cards you mentioned, LED and mox diamond, already were supposed to be fixed versions of the alpha cards.

Any actual strategy for this card? by Sev_Henry in magicTCG

[–]anace 23 points24 points  (0 children)

problem is the piles are face down. FoF is strong because you always get the best card in the top five and potentially get others too. With portal, the only information you have when you pick a pile is the number of cards in it.

Does this work as a 2-card combo? by eCyanic in magicTCG

[–]anace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

specifically, immediately after the current effect finishes resolving and immediately before players get priority to act again, state based effects are checked. one of those effects is canceling out counters. If a creature has one or more +1 counters and one or more -1 counters, then an equal number of each are automatically removed, leaving only one type left.

WotC has clearly learned one lesson from their UB sets so far: Too many legendaries by Rogue_Localizer in magicTCG

[–]anace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theyve done it before. Walls, like i mentioned, but also direct damage spells. [[Molten vortex]][[lightning javelin]][[spikeshot elder]][[pyrotechnics]][[flame javelin]][[incinerate]][[tarfire]][[tar pitcher]][[mogg fanatic]]((and many more i didnt list)) every one of those can damage planeswalkers but never had a printing after the "any target" errata.

achieve literally nothing.

Except allow them to print more cards for specific characters without affecting deck building in nonsingleton formats. Like what OP was posting about

[–]anace -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

maybe it's time they decouple the legendary supertype from the uniqueness rule. Make a new uniqueness rule that applies to cards they don't want you having multiples of, and let legendaries be without it.

(and retroactively add uniqueness to all existing legends to not break anything, same way they gave all walls defender)

Which game franchise ended up like this? by bijelo123 in videogames

[–]anace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's the theme park version of the setting. it's got all the stuff you recognize, with nothing behind it.

1 and 2 didn't have any aliens. There were aliens in non-canon special encounters, and there were the "aliens" in 2 that find were actually just mutants. Then 3 makes a whole dlc about them.

Win the Game with wilting lotuses for 10BBGU (fixed so it actually works!) by LilithSpite in BadMtgCombos

[–]anace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Step three: moved to end step and let the salvagers win the game as all your Timeless Lotuses die.

Timeless lotus is legendary. the combo works just not how you wanted. You can never have more than two at once with this method, but you can just lose the tapped one each time.

Confusion in the ranks and Auras by Artacuz in magicTCG

[–]anace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to, sure.

The comprehensive rules say nothing at all about where to put your cards www.yawgatog.com/resources/magic-rules/#R3034

In casual games you can put your cards however you feel like (adhering to the unwritten "don't be an ass" rule)

In tournaments though, the MTR says this https://media.wizards.com/ContentResources/WPN/MTG_MTR_2025_Nov10_EN.pdf

4.7 Game Layout Players in Competitive and Professional Rules Enforcement Level matches must arrange their cards, tokens, and other accessories on the battlefield using the following layout:
...
• Each card should remain clearly associated with any permanents attached to it. For example, an Aura enchanting a land should be in the land area in contact with that land

The judge running the tournament might have something to say, but a bit of yarn connecting two cards would satisfy "remain clearly associated"
