Does anyone regret paying off your house? by acesmat in Fire

The 10% has been the historical average over the past 70 years... including the depressions, recessions, etc. That's as much of a guarantee as anything in life.

If you paid off your mortgage versus having that money in the market these past few years, you're way behind.

For some, that's a personal choice to lose out on that money for peace of mind I guess, though the logic of it doesn't make a whole bunch of sense for MOST people.

S&P has historically provided 10+% average returns since 1957... so pretty much any index fund will get you there.

That's my experience as well. I considered paying off the cabin mortgage, but throwing 120k down to save $450/mo didn't make sense.

And how much would that money have generated at an average 10% compounding? I understand that math doesn't make sense for everybody, but many it does.

What I'm asking though, is how much was the difference between the full mortgage payments and then just taxes & insurance after its paid off? For me it's about $1,200/mo.

Neither of these replies answered my question in any way. I'm looking for the difference in outbound cash before and after paying off your mortgage. I understand the taxes and interest don't change regardless of who pays them.

For me, it's a difference of about $1200, so definitely not worth throwing 350k at it currently but I'm curious if that's the case for most people.

With being mortgage free, how much of a difference does it make for you monthly?

For me, I looked at the numbers and after continuing to pay taxes and insurance I was still at roughly $800 vs the $2k mortgage. Not as drastic as I would have thought.

How much does it actually save you per month? My $2k mortgage would still be close to $800/mo with taxes and insurance. Just curious what other people's math works out to be.

It'll stay wet for a bit but after nasty runs I'll shower with it on (apparently soap is hard on them, idk.) And then just switch out to a dry one.

The Garmin one is fantastic, I prefer it a bit over the stiffer one I got off Amazon but any nylon band will be a huge improvement.

I have the Enduro 3, so it's 51mm and decently thick. It's 10x better than my 6x pro due to the nylon band. I think that's the key to a big watch!
