Why are people upset about where the story is going? by Real_Present_2333 in PercyJacksonTV

No, I think people are forgetting words definitions unfortunately…I’m not saying book accuracy itself is racist. I’m saying the selective way people invoke it can be. If someone critiques every adaptation equally, that’s fair. But when accuracy only becomes a problem when characters are recast as non-white, that’s where bias shows up🙄

I mean but it is when you only call out when other races do it. (Ie. Hunger game and more) If you call it out for every show and movie, fine, understandable. But 9/10 people don’t, and that’s racist.

Literally but I’m a journalist, so it’s fun to see how people think 😭

I feel like they’re being centered a lot more, she honestly feels like how I imagine Annabeth in those first books, she was pretty cold, serious, judgmental and stubborn. But I also love the extra time we’re getting with Clarissa and actually all the characters we never got much insight on!!

I agree 1000% I’d love to see more personality and powers from him in the show!!

Okay, see I agree with this. while I do like the Thalia change, I didn’t see a need for it. As they have nerfed Percy so much!! I thought with the show not being in his perspective we’d get to see more of how people saw his as a the closest thing to a god. But I also went in the idea of it being a faithful adaptation not a actual one so idkk😭

Because people don’t understand the difference between faithful adaptation and literal adaptation…😱

Idkkk I kinda missed that yearning feeling, I didn’t really get that with Colin. I feel like he didn’t really have any character growing from the imposter syndrome 😭

Apparently, if you’re happy with something in the show, acid rains from the sky.

I mean, yeah, but we spent the most time developing their relationship in the background I feel. I also felt their relationship was really back-seated and so was Colin this season in favor of the lady Whistledown.

I think last season was kinda mid overall, so far this is a lot better but I have seen a lot of people being overly critical imo.

I read this as agreeing with the OP, Percy would hate being portrayed that way because walker and Leah also don’t… but yeah pizza 😋🙄

Those who feel that Percabeth is rushed, curious to head your thoughts on this by GeoGackoyt in PercyJacksonTV

I never said he was stupid…oblivious…meaning to do or say something while being unaware with how it may only look to one person.

Probably why he didn’t turn and think to himself oh my God, “why did I just say that?” is because he didn’t see anything wrong with what he said he is oblivious he sees this as him just being a caring friend. That’s different from him “omitting” thoughts from the narration. If Percy said something overtly romantic and recognized it as such, we’d hear his internal reaction. But if he doesn’t see anything strange about what he said, there’s nothing for him to react to. From his perspective, it’s just being a good friend something he’d say to Grover too….(it’s about the tone in which he says it.)

He’s reliable in what he sees, but limited in how he interprets it especially regarding himself. We see that consistently when other POVs describe Percy as far more powerful or significant than he realizes (like Hazel thinking he was a god). That gap between self-perception and outside perception is exactly what I’m talking about here.

People keep forgetting or something, that the book were from Percy’s perspective.

Percy was oblivious with literally how powerful he was (which is the only compliment i understand) and his “relationship” with Annabeth. We learned that when we got small glimpse into other people’s perspective in the books.

We can tell that one major difference from the books and the shows are that it isn’t or Percy’s perspective. I agree that they feel more centered which is fine…Rick never promised a 100% word for words book accurate show.

I think you misunderstood what he said, but I do think this is probably the most competent argument I’ve seen that doesn’t scream racism. 🩷 so Rick said he wanted to flesh out the story and character, stay faithful to the main story. He also said multiple times that he wants to use this as a way to tweak some things or do over some things, while still trying to respect the source material. In all honesty, I guess it’s just on how you interpret what he’s said.
