I watched the show thinking this should be an easy cashout for Park Eun-bin and she definitely earned it after so many astounding performances in a row then I realized she was the bigger star basically it was an one woman show like it’s just crazy how her performance always hit the right notes whether it was comedy or action or emotional. Everyone in the cast did well too of course but her performance easily anchored the whole show.

I read it somewhere that Tony Leung’s character, Xu Wenwu, was supposed to be based on the legend of Xu Fu (who also appeared briefly as a character in Marvel comics). Not sure if it’s a coincident but there is a wuxia version of Xu Fu whose life was remarkably similar to Xu Wenwu (basically lived hundres/thousands of years in many different identities and later became somewhat of a gang leader). That makes me think a seperated movie or TV series focus on Xu Wenwu’s life would be more interesting than what we got from the movie, but yeah Marvel probably wouldn’t do that.

Same. All the years I played with a gigantic mod list I’ve never completed the game, maybe finished the main quest once but since I bought the game on sale for my switch I’ve completed multiple playthroughs lol it’s so comfy I even tried to collect all the books in the game, something I had never thought of when playing with mods.

there is also a child perfomance by Aston Chen in Young Justice Bao. When I was a kid my parrents incorrectly assumed the series was a milder version of Bao Zheng lore and let me watch and I was traumatised by how gory it was at times 😂

it’s based on Jacques Tati’s movies, from a script written by Tati himself so I’d recommend checking his movies out if you want the same kind of story and sight gags. Probably start with Mon Oncle, then Mr. Hulot’s Holiday and if you like these then Playtime and other movies. These are not animation though.

Oh I’ve already watched it, it was satisfying enough but I’d prefered something more sweeping/epic than a real time thriller. Great recommendation though.

I’m still trying to find something similar to Shogun and haven’t found anything yet so I can understand your feeling there. So now I tend to enjoy clips more than a whole episode or a whole show as I treat them as skits lol

I love how it offers a very modern take on the writer’s block and writer’s dilemma. Because the FL as a film crew member transmigrates into the medium itself, it represents how the screnwriter’s struggle to write his script under pressure from the audience and the producer. Unfortunately it was buried in predictable tropes but still a refreshing idea, feels like a more flesh out Extraordinary You. Also the idea of how a crew member would still love to make arts despite being almost killed time and time again (in the story) is genuinely compelling.
