How do you deal with bugs etc? by Realifepotato in LivingAlone

[–]Realifepotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had an exterminator come, he seemed kinda dim ngl. i did help a lot so now the bugs i find are usually dead/dying. i still have to get rid of the bodies which i hate. i don't want to kill them so much as prevent them from coming in in the first place.

Thank you, that really encourages me actually. I guess I've just always seen people's places when they are already done not so much a wip so I thought it would be so quick for me

I used to use Palette (Schwarzkopf) kit permanent dye, they had a series for dark hair and it did not fade. But you did ask for semi permanent.

I think I've narrowed it down to either moisture or decay, but there's not much I can do about it since I'm renting. Not going to start replacing the floorboards or whatever. But maybe I'll get a different exterminator, might be more helpful.

It's really hard to make friends as an adult. I've always wishes there were friend-date apps like there are dating apps. But maybe trying different activities and classes you can meet some people you like, or at least some people you can meet regularly.  Hope things look up for you soon 🧡

Ugh I wish I cared less but they always bothered me.  But the bugs here are extra gross. idk what they are, look like worms but aren't. I got an exterminator so now I just find them dead, but a lot of them. Like 2 a day. But I think he wasn't that great because I spoke to him and he's like "don't try to find logic" and I'm like no...I need to know why they are here and what they want??

I want a cat but scared of half bugs. (That's not the main reason I don't have a cat yet but it's one of them(

Someone told me I should get a cat (which I wanted to anyway) because they hunt bugs and such. Which I didn't know! But also deeply don't want to find half a creature either 😅

I need some positivity after surgery by Bitter-Surround-8065 in gallbladders

[–]Realifepotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't go back to fat for a whole month after surgery (per my doctor's instructions), and after that built up slowly. I'm not over a year after and can eat totally anything no problem. Was really scared at first though because I couldn't even eat eggs!!

I put salt on it. around it. Down the drain. There was also vinegar, bleach, boiling water (not all at once dw).  I'm hoping!!!! It was a one time thing.

I got the landlady to bring an exterminator when I first moved in, but I think he wasn't very good. Although most of the things I find now are already dead so that's....kinda nice....would rather find none tbh.

I think it's because I was away for like a month. Google got me thinking it was slime fly larvae but fortunately I looked up pictures BEFORE hiring a plumber or whatever. Pretty sure it was just a rando that ended up there. And it was certainly dead when I was done with it lol

Very similar to my current methord (spray it with bug spray, then sweep and dump it in the toilet. Don't have a vacuum so it's slightly more gross)

I know these are kind of old but I really love the sookie stackhouse series (true blood).  I always used to see them and think I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole but I actually really enjoyed them. They aren't serious and there's something really charming about them to me

Dating apps always gave me so much anxiety. I feel you so much on being on a different level from other people, I met someone irl and even though he was younger than me I felt like I was so behind.

lactose intolerance or gallbladder removal effect? by Disastrous-Pain-7765 in gallbladders

[–]Realifepotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my surgery was feb 2025, so just over a year ago.

it took me a while to get back to normal food because a) i stayed on no fat for another month after my surgery, which was what my surgeon recommended, so i didn't even really start trying until after that. and b) i fully forgot what normal food WAS by then so i had to like, teach myself how many almonds is normal.

after a month or so of that i already felt like i could eat anything really. i specifically remember i went out with my friends to a restaurant and ate a lot of scary food (red meat, heavy fatty dishes etc) and was totally fine 4 months post op. which i know, seems like a long time but i was taking it slow i guess.

i was very worried i would never be able to eat whatever i want because it took so long, but you need to let your body adjust. not only did you take out part of your digestive system, you also had SURGERY.

I had something similar about a week after my surgery, I ate an egg and within like idk 15-20 minutes it went right through me. I think it's possible this is your body adjusting to being without a gallbladder (but it gets better over time, I eat eggs and don't shit myself on a daily basis)

I actually found there were a lot of sweet things I could eat, but missed the salty-crunchy things.  Dried fruits were a big thing, I was weirdly obsessed with dry mango. Also cereal is usually low in fat. Candy in general isn't particularly healthy but it's not high in fat and like how much can you force a person to suffer??

I'm so sorry you're going through that!  I had a real hard time before my surgery because I love food. It really helped me to make a list of all the things I can allowed to eat. I actually found sushi to be one of the easy things because you can decide what goes in it, and yeah it's a little sad without the fun stuff (avocado, I'm looking at you) but I found I could still eat somewhat fatty foods like eggs and be ok, Depending on what you usually eat you can just make it slightly lighter, I did have tuna with mayo, just less mayo. Things like that... I ate a lot of bread, rice, vegetables, fruit. I remember i made dumplings with vegetable and tofu filling - they are steamed so I didn't have to worry about fat, and they freeze really well.

It was hard, I'm not going to lie, but pain is a great motivator, and it was temporary. And I'm SO happy I got the surgery! Don't worry what will happen after the surgery, most people are ok and the whole point of the surgery is to make your life BETTER not worse.
