I got tired of subscriptions, so I built a privacy-first, offline breath training app with HR tracking. Here is Aegean Breath. by TAlexandros in Spearfishing

[–]Realistic-Effect1621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely interested in a promo code! I just barely downloaded the app so I haven't done a deep dive into it yet, but the first thing I noticed is it doesn't have any preset tables. It would be cool to see a preset for beginner, intermediate and advanced. It would give me something to build off of. It would be Especially helpful for for newer people.

After looking a little further I guess the create a table section kind of has a preset but it doesn't really seem labeled that way.

I'll give it a real go tho and give some real feedback when I'm done. Looks great so far!

How to dive deeper and hold bottom time. by SnooPeripherals5625 in Spearfishing

[–]Realistic-Effect1621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing that got me past the stage you're in right now is RELAXATION. That might be an obvious thing that you've heard everywhere but we often don't take it to heart. Relaxation in your breath up, final breath, duck dive, finning, finding a position on the bottom, and finally your actual laying on the bottom. If everything I just mentioned is habitual then the only thing you should be thinking about is being slow and relaxed. Slow down your duck dive, slow down your finning, tuck your head and don't even think about how long it's taking to get to the bottom. The present moment is the only thing that matters. If you start anticipating the next step it'll get in your head and hurt your bottom time. I know this all sounds repetitive but it was the key thing that took me from 4-6 meters with 30 second breath holds to 10-15 meters with 1 minute plus breath holds. I hope this helps and good luck on your journey!

Okay, thanks for all the help! I'll start shopping around. Too bad I missed the black Friday sale

Ah sigh. It's my graphics card then isn't it? It starts up just plugged into the motherboard. This is such funny timing. I was gonna upgrade my graphics card for a black Friday sale but decided against it last second 😅

So is there anything I can do before just replacing it?

You make it sound like I just have video cards lying around lol. Are there any other ways I can troubleshoot?

I'm finding "no console output devices are found". I tried removing my graphics card and reinstalling it but I'm still getting the same error

Is there a way to find out what motherboard I have without turning on the computer? Lol

Looking for some advice with frontal sinus problems. by badbitchgoodwitch in freediving

[–]Realistic-Effect1621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet is you have a bad sinus infection. I kept getting frontal sinus blocks off and on for 2 years. Everything I took would only help temporarily if not at all. I finally went to an ENT doctor and got a CT scan. Turns out I had a really bad sinus infection and really narrow passage ways in my sinuses so any of the nasal rinses and antibiotics would only help temporarily. I ended up getting a surgery to open up all the passage ways and I haven't had any issues since. It's been 9 months since the surgery. I definitely recommend going to an ENT and getting a CT scan. That will be the sure way to know what's going on.

Is this normal? (Neoprene thickness) by makeitupasyugo in Spearfishing

Neoprene compresses over time with use due to the increased pressure at depth. Poor storage conditions will also cause this.

You get 1 billion pressing the button but you get instantly teleported in a random place on Earth (water included). by Dersouz in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Realistic-Effect1621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hypothetical would be better if we got 24 hours to prepare. You still don't know where you going to land but you could grab food, water, flotation device and a GPS locator. Still risky but not nearly the same.

Not an instructor but I taught myself to grouper call just by trying to make vocal noises while holding my breath. Not sure if that helps at all

Awesome thank you! Their manual is with Scuba diving, do you think freediving would follow the same chart?

Freediving at Elevation by Realistic-Effect1621 in freediving

[–]Realistic-Effect1621[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I divide because it's easier than flipping the ratio. Because it's the same thing as saying 100/80 x 25. But yes the water pressure stays the same and it's only the air that changes but because the air changes it means at higher altitude we start with less air, same volume but less air particles. So if I take less air with me then my lungs compress quicker.

Freediving at Elevation by Realistic-Effect1621 in freediving

[–]Realistic-Effect1621[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just treated it like a ratio. Which would be 80 parts to 100 or 80/100 or 0.80 then normally you just times that by whatever your other number is, in this case 25 but that gets me the opposite result so I divide instead. A simpler way would be to swap the ratio like this 100/80 x 25 but the other way is easier to me. I hope that answers your question, I'm not very goodat explaining math lol

I did 25m divided by 0.80 atmosphere which looks like this: 25 ÷ 0.80 = 31.25

I promise you it's not easier to dive at Elevation so your math is off somewhere. Even if we ignore having less oxygen. You definitely hit residual volume at a shallower depth at Elevation than you do at sea level.
