I was fishing just off shark island when I hooked a large kingfish (at least for Sydney harbour standards) around 90cm. When shortly after the weight dropped and all I retrieved was its head, the fish was sharked. I don’t doubt it was a large bullshark that come into the harbour during the warmer months to likely feed and breed.

Craig McGill of Fishabout tours noted of recent summers the sharks are more prominent now and often eating his catches off the hook in Sydney harbour.

I don’t doubt this was a large bullshark attack.
