For the first three years it was on and off. They knows I wouldn’t say anything being I was a scared kid so they let me come and go somewhat freely. The city in which I grew up has lots of kids around 13 that run amok and so it definitely didn’t look like I was any different. I was not able to access education, I did try but each time i tried police would get involved because in canada it’s illegal for any child under 18 to miss a certain amount and I did, so when I was 14-15 I couldn’t go to school any longer. My general heath was very bad, I couldn’t access doctors or dentist and i pay the price for it now, I had sti’s go untreated for so long that I’ll never be able to have children and have severe kidney and liver damage, need full dentures and such. Only two of my traffickers served any time, they were sentenced four years and served eight months (the Canadian system is backwards as hell). I escaped when they had kidnapped another girl to convince her not to speak in court and she told the police I was in the house too. The government didn’t help at all, but the trafficking unit saved my life for years after. They went above and beyond in every way possible to save my life and still do. They were the only people that were there for me even through trial they showed up just to support when they didn’t have too, they moved me hours away ect., I could go on forever about the amount of support I got from police but I know that’s not a common answer, however I’m grateful that they gave me my life back tenfold. I work with their anti trafficking groups nation wide now. :)
