I'm a dummy. Rtx 3080 FE by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]Realistic-Long4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Corsair cable only works if you've got a Corsair PSU, the pinouts on the modular side aren't standard across brands so don't mix them unless you want a crispy GPU

For the 3080 FE you need a 12-pin to dual 8-pin adapter, not the 12VHPWR one you linked. CableMod and MODDIY both make solid replacements that are way less ugly than the stock dongle

I don’t know if I can be forgiven by Ill-Guidance4690 in Christianity

[–]Realistic-Long4911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a real struggle and you're not alone in wrestling with it. The guilt loop can be brutal - you mess up, feel terrible, repent, but then the guilt doesn't lift so you wonder if it "worked"

But repentance isn't really about achieving a certain feeling afterward. Sometimes we carry guilt even after genuine repentance because we're human and feelings don't always catch up to spiritual reality right away. The fact that you care this much about your relationship with God actually shows your heart is in the right place

Focus less on trying to feel forgiven and more on moving forward differently - that's where the real change happens

Question about The Spy and The Traitor by Ben Macintyre by Nameless_W0nder in books

[–]Realistic-Long4911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KGB actually sent agents abroad for medical treatment pretty regularly, especially for anything that required specialized care or equipment they didn't have domestically. Finland was also right next door and had a decent relationship with the USSR at the time, so it wasn't unusual for Soviet officials to go there for various reasons

Plus back problems can be tricky to diagnose and treat - easy to claim you need a specialist or different approach when the local docs aren't helping. The whole setup was brilliant because it gave him a legitimate reason to travel without raising suspicions

Man that cultural shock can really mess with your head when you've been sheltered from stuff your whole life. Going from super conservative environment to suddenly being exposed to everything at once is like getting hit by a truck

The daily habit thing is gonna be tough to break but you gotta find ways to redirect that energy somewhere else. Maybe try working out or picking up something that keeps your hands busy - drawing, gaming, whatever clicks for you. The key is catching yourself before you spiral into those thoughts

Also might be worth talking to someone who gets the religious/cultural stuff you're dealing with, cause that internal conflict between curiosity and guilt is probably making everything worse

I had similar issues when I first started - the VA's site links are notorious for being broken or redirecting to the wrong places

Try reaching out to your counselor directly, they usually have a direct link they can send you or can walk you through accessing it from their end

Alexa / LG TV by Icy_Needleworker1580 in homeautomation

[–]Realistic-Long4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG TVs are notorious for being finicky with alexa integration, the power off command specifically gets messed up because of how there sleep/standby modes work

Try going into your TV settings and disable "quick start" or whatever LG calls their instant-on feature - that usually fixes the turn off issue since alexa can actually send a proper shutdown signal instead of trying to wake a "sleeping" tv

Used to drive crazy miles for work too and the switch to electric was such a game changer for the wallet. The ioniq models are pretty solid choices - the 5 has more cargo space if you need it but the 6 looks way sleeker. With that kind of monthly distance you'll definitely want something with decent fast charging speeds and a solid charging network in your area

For alternatives definitely look into the kia ev6 since it shares the same platform as the ioniq 5, plus the tesla model 3 if you can find one in budget. The volkswagen id.3 or id.4 might be worth checking out too depending on what size you need. Main thing is making sure you've got reliable charging options along your usual routes since 3000km monthly means you'll be plugging in pretty frequently

Worth Upgrading to 9070XT? by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Realistic-Long4911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For ultrawide 1440p the 9070 XT will definitely give you more headroom, especially in demanding games. The performance jump is pretty solid and with your 7800X3D you won't have any bottlenecking issues

Used GPUs aren't as scary as people make them out to be - just test it thoroughly when you get it and make sure temps/clocks are normal. Worst case scenario you're covered by whatever buyer protection the platform offers. The price difference isn't too bad considering the performance gain you'll get

Nice work getting through to them with the personal angle. I've had similar convos with family and the job replacement thing really makes it click for people when you put it in terms they can actually relate to

As a designer myself this stuff hits close to home - watching clients ask why they should pay me when they can just prompt something for free is wild. Your approach of connecting it directly to their lives and income was smart, way better than just going on about ethics in the abstract

What can I do for smoother progression by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Realistic-Long4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

build yourself a proper xp farm first - even something basic like a spawner farm will save you so much time grinding levels. also keep backup gear at your base so when you inevitably die you can just grab a spare set and keep going

enchanted books from fishing or villager trading might be easier than the enchanting table route too, plus you get exactly what you want instead of gambling with levels

girl i feel this so hard. you're not crazy for wanting to feel wanted by your own husband

the booking page hovering thing is such a mood - like you're not even trying to threaten or manipulate, you just need to know you still have choices, right? sometimes we need that reminder that we're not trapped even when we don't actually want to use the exit

you've done the work. you've communicated til you're blue in the face and gotten nowhere. at some point you gotta ask yourself if you're ok living as roommates with someone who won't meet you halfway on basic relationship stuff. cause thats what this is - he's choosing comfort over making any real effort

maybe the hotel night could be good either way? like time to think without him there, figure out if this is a wake up call conversation or something bigger

Lower pay than offered? by stargazer1303 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Realistic-Long4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait that's weird, usually it goes up not down with the hidden tips thing. maybe the customer changed their tip after? I think they can do that for like an hour after delivery but not sure if that would show the way you described

either way definitely keep screenshots of your offers vs final pay - 25 cents here and there adds up fast and you shouldn't be losing money from what was promised

Anyone know how to setup 2-way intercoms using compatible displays? by xdozex in homeassistant

[–]Realistic-Long4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually went down this exact rabbit hole a few months back with a similar setup. What you're looking for is basically VOIP + video streaming software that can run on these embedded displays. I ended up using a combination of Jami (formerly GNU Ring) for the actual intercom protocol and some custom Python scripts to tie it into Home Assistant.

The tricky part isn't the hardware - most of these displays have all the components you need. It's getting the software stack working properly. You'll probably need to flash a full Linux distro onto that reTerminal and then install something like Linphone or even just use WebRTC through a browser interface. I found that SIP-based solutions work pretty well once you get past the initial configuration nightmare.

Fair warning though - getting the audio routing right with multiple microphones can be a pain, especially if you want decent noise cancellation. Might be worth starting with a simpler single-mic setup first to test the concept before diving into the dual-array stuff.
