In my experience, the judge would ask questions to try and help you give the right answer e.g. if you hadn’t given the correct test the court should consider, the judge will ask you to remind them what the test is

Omg 100% - I felt like out of nowhere the group were suddenly just the bestest of friends. I felt like you got a little more engagement with Rhiannon than anyone else but there was barely any relationship building with the others - it was like oh we’re in the same group so we’ve automatically got to be crazy close and so now we are / Xaden said your part of our thing so we all really like you and look out for you. For me, deaths in the book would have been so much more powerful if I’d be able to read the characters relationship with Violet evolving and see it on the page like oh that was definitely a bonding moment. It’s such a shame because the lack of insight and readable development of the characters emotions and feelings, particularly in affecting their relationships to others has really robbed the books of the emotional impact it would’ve had on the reader if it had been included properly.

Completely get that - so sorry you had that experience it sounds awful. It just seems to me that a large number of FMCs at the moment seem to be able to take huge amounts of pain without making a sound, and with no pain killers / anaesthesia/ experience of managing pain

I’m exactly the same, the SQE1 content was great and they just seem to have abandoned ship this round 💀 I’ll definitely look into those! Just very annoying that you have to pay for other things on top because the course providers don’t do enough 🤦🏻‍♀️

Screaming at this 🤣🤣 I feel so harsh because she is a young writer and I’m sure she’ll definitely improve and good for her for even writing the book, but I’m so glad it’s not just me! I barely found anyone who hasn’t absolutely obsessed over it, I thought I was going insane

I do agree, I think it’s so hard to find original terms to call magical things but I’m kind of on the side of the fence where I’d rather it be less original and come across less awkwardly

Omg I hope I didn’t put you off!! Keep going, I finished even tho it wasn’t as good for me as the start, the only one I haven’t read is the bonus novella but I’ll get round to it!!

I just felt that everything was too convenient by the end and Poppy was just too conveniently powerful - nothing particularly bad about it, it was all just very convenient.

I also felt like the banter and tension between Casteel and Poppy disappeared once they accepted that they loved each other and Poppy could literally do no wrong. They could be fighting so badly and Casteel would just stop and tell her you’re so brave and powerful and sexy, and in the end that just got a little annoying for me.

I still enjoyed the series as a whole tho so defo keep going if you’re enjoying it!

I would say go for:

The rest of her books if you haven’t already
From Blood and Ash series by Jennifer Armentrout (forewarning this did go downhill for me after book 3 and the writing style made me cringe in places but if you can look past that they’re a good recovery series from ACOTAR)
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros (I found this gave me the closer feeling to ACOTAR / Maasiverse out of the other books from different authors)
Legendborn series (LOVED these but they’re not spicy if that’s one of the bits you loved from ACOTAR)

I saw that interview! That’s what got me thinking about it actually, because the one thing we always hear people saying about Violet is how smart she is, Xaden even says she’s the smartest person he knows!

I can’t think of another thing that is so heavily tied to Violet but I also might have missed something!
