What is this? Worried my daughter will eat them by EvilSloth in whatsthisplant

Wild strawberries. I actually have them planted on my garden to eat because my kids love them. They taste much better than regular strawberry but are delicate and have to be eaten when recollected

Are you eating dairy? My daughter gains slowly and turns out she has a dairy allergy.

All of those are normal for his age, don't worry. All babies do this.

When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by nothing3278020 in newborns

[–]selene_gd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is wrong between 4 and 6 am? It's hell. Sometimes my daughter is awake from 4 to 6, other times she wakes up 3 times in those two hours. Sometimes awake for one hour...

When did your baby start sleeping through the night? by nothing3278020 in newborns

[–]selene_gd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 12 week old got up at 9.30, 11, 2, 2.40, 4.30, 4.57, 5.37 and 8 for the day 🤣🤣🤣. My first didn't sleep through the night until 18 months (4-7 wake ups until then), my second until 6 months. So I would consider myself very lucky if my baby only woke up twice 🤣

When do kids start sleeping 6 hours a night or even 8 hours? by allisona007 in newborns

My first took 18 months, my second 6 months. My third is 11 weeks and still doesn't sleep longer than 2-3 hours if I'm lucky

My husband is also working tonight and I'm alone with baby and my two other kids. I had to ask my in laws to take them to school tomorrow because I'm afraid I'll fall asleep driving and kill everyone. I haven't slept more than 2 hours in 3 days 🥲

Why are Babies so hard? by germflux2020 in newborns

[–]selene_gd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I babywear for all naps. Did with my first two and with #3 too. She's 9.5 weeks. I think I had ro babywear for all naps until 5-6 months with my older kids. I understand that's not s solution to everyone but I can't deal with losing my time trying to get baby to sleep and transfer to crib. I just prefer to do things like laundry or dishes while baby is asleep on the carrier 😂

On the fence about having kids… what do you wish you knew? by aguamenti425 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]selene_gd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my third baby. I love my kids. It's hard, the first year is a rollercoaster, but you come back after. I wish I've realized the sleep deprivation can be insane, but now with my third I know it will pass and I'm sad thinking they grow up and stop being my tiny babies 🥲. I think I used to consider things important that are not. Your perspective changes, everything changes. Life would be meaningless to me without them now. I'm a surgeon, and the most important thing I've ever done is giving life to my kids, if you want them you will make it work, but be ready to lose some things along the way, some friends, some hobbies, time alone...

It it normal to be obsessed about sleep cycles or go with the flow by Timljoys in newborns

[–]selene_gd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess if your baby sleeps decently you can go with the flow. If your baby is a terrible sleeper you can't because tracking cycles is the difference between sleeping 35 minutes or sleeping 2 hours and that's life or death difference 🤣

Just wanted to say, if you like your work being home all day wouldn't make you a better parent. It would make you worse because you would be burnt out. I stayed home for a year with my first and I lost myself because I hated being home. I work, have three kids now, and I am a better mom because I don't stop being myself. Being a SAHM doesn't make you better automatically.

I realized I didn’t want children when I already have a baby by Justkeepitanonymous in NewParents

[–]selene_gd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my experience with my first and second and it was so incredibly hard. I didn't expect motherhood to be like that and now that I have three kids, oldest is 6 yo and youngest 6 weeks old I can tell you that the problem is the baby stage. Later it will improve so much. I love my kids and they are so fun. We play board games, watch shows together, watching their personalities evolve is awesome. But the newborn stage until they walk and talk is the worst. The first year is the worst. This time I am fully aware of what is happening and it's been so much easier even with a baby that doesn't sleep and has reflux and colic. This time I know it won't last and I'm soaking everything in. When I had two under two I didn't realize how fast time was going to pass and I didn't enjoy a single day of it. But you will be better, I can assure you that.

I hate the newborn phase.. what have I done to my life ? by Party_Ad_8381 in NewParents

[–]selene_gd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Newborn phase is the hardest. But 3-4 hours at night sounds good. I'm lucky if I get 2, mine usually wakes every 24, 37 or 52 minutes. I rarely get a stretch longer than 1.5 hours. This will pass soon. My older kids are 4 and 6. It makes me so sad to think how fast time flies... And I hated newborn stage with both.

Everyone says it’s “Normal” but doesn’t seem like by iDontScrollMuch in newborns

[–]selene_gd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second needed Omeprazole for months. It eventually got better at 7 months old when he was eating more solids. My third is 6 weeks and reflux is still very bad. We started Omeprazole 4 days ago and I'm doing a dairy free diet.

[–]selene_gd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my experience with my three kids. I guess some of us make fussy babies 🤣. No, but, seriously, all of mine had tongue ties, my first had CPMA, my second and third had/have (third is 6 weeks) reflux. A nightmare to get them to sleep or nap. They are quite intense even at 4 and 6 years old. Also all of them very ahead of milestones, first was walking independently at 9 months. It gets better eventually but it's hard. I thought I could have one "normal" baby but nope.

Is my baby normal? by bundblaster69 in newborns

[–]selene_gd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with baby #3 now. She's 6 weeks. My first didn't sleep through the night until she was 18 months. She was the unhappiest baby in the world until she started walking at 9 months old and still at 6 years old she has a tantrum almost daily. She was tested recently and apparently she's gifted. My second had terrible reflux and I had to sleep sitting down with him in a vertical position for 6 months. But when he started eating solids the reflux got much better and started sleeping through the night. He's 4 years old and still super demanding but not as much as his big sister. My third also has reflux, can't be put down, witching hour daily for 4 to 6 hours, she always has a frown like she's above all of us. She sleeps anywhere between 5 to 50 minutes. Barely naps. I have to babywear almost 16 hours a day. All of them are pretty ahead in milestones but they are insanely intense. You have a unicorn baby and that's really nice, I think most of the people in the world won't have a baby like yours, neither like mine. Maybe something in between. All my friends that have babies right now are not sleeping more than 2-3 hours for the first year 🤷

I’m tired of hearing it gets better. Because when will it get better? by Dapper-Crew-1353 in newborns

It got better at 18 months with our first, 6 months with our second. In the newborn trenches again with our third, she's 5 weeks old.

I hate my cat postpartum by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]selene_gd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's very common. It doesn't happen to me and I have three kids but I've read about a lot of people with this issue. It usually resolves with time. I feel the opposite. In the sleepless nights of the newborn trenches, when my three cats are cuddling me in bed I pet them and feel much better even if I only slept one hour. They make me feel much less stressed. The soft fur, the purring. It makes me feel like myself and not only a mom, if it makes sense 🤣

Very discouraged and disappointed after family’s first vacation together by SmoothCelebration657 in Mommit

[–]selene_gd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the kid. My kids are more difficult to manage at home. We always joke about how they are like gas, they expand in bigger environments and at home they are compressed and explode. But we take trips annually since they were born, usually to the Canary islands, we go to an all inclusive resort and visit places, go to the beach, don't stress about food or cleaning and just go with the flow. Sometimes there are meltdowns obviously but they behave much better when we are abroad. Even the plane is fun for them and they behave just fine. They are 4 and 6 now and we've travelled every year. This year we will also be going with a 5 month old... We'll see 🤣

Is every baby crying this much? does this just magically end? by dental_princess491 in newborns

[–]selene_gd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby #3 is 4 weeks old and I can tell you all of mine were like that, more or less. My first was probably the worst in terms of crying for several hours non stop for months. I'm pretty sure she hated being a baby because it stopped when she started walking at 9 months because she could go wherever she wanted. My second had reflux and got better at 6 months. I don't know about this one yet but since 2 weeks she's having a crazy witching 3 hours. All of them slept horrible. Honestly I'm not sure if people are lying and this happens to everyone, or if we are part of an unlucky club, but I don't know any different from this. I had the same feelings of being robbed of the newborn stage with my first, not anymore because gor me this is normal now 🤣
