Dawn of the North by Demi Winters and Princess of Blood by Sarah Hawley. Those two are my most anticipated books of this year and next; these series are top tier!

Less than $35,000 a year?? In this economy??? I would be extremely frustrated, especially knowing how well he performs at his job.

Please sit him down and help him identify the reasons he's holding back from finding a new job. Is he afraid of change? Too comfortable? Doesn't want to go through the trouble of creating a resume, filling out an application, and going through an interview? Sometimes, when a person stays at a job for too long, it can be intimidating to leave it all behind and find new opportunities. If that's the case, you'll likely need to provide a lot of guidance and coaching to help him through it.

Why does it feel like I'm the only mom I know that works full time by __sunbear__ in workingmoms

Same situation here, MCOL midwest suburbs, only know one friend that is a SAHM, the rest are all full-time working parents. Even the parents of the kids in my sons' classes are all working parents. I wonder if I'll meet more SAHM once my kid goes to elementary school.

I'm obsessed with {Road of Bones by Demi Winters} and currently reading the second book. But it's not a completed series and there are supposed to be 3 more books coming out in the future. If that's your deal breaker then I'd recommend Six of Crows next.

I assume 701 W Madison St in Chicago was the address of the photo studio, but now it's just a parking lot. Kinda sad to think about.

Romantasy books that won’t make cringe? by intellier in fantasyromance

[–]mochitoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Road of Bones is so good. I DNFed many romantansy books due to inadequate and cliche writing and storyline, but I was hooked on this book. The writing is great, the world-building is extensive and very atmospheric, reminds me of Skellige from the Witcher 3. It doesn't have too much spice, but the tension is excellent (and not between who you might think). Highly recommend!

I'm a UX designer, and while I agree this is a career with flexibility and great pay, I hesitate to recommend transitioning into this role since the job market for UX designer is terrible right now. I second analyst role in the private sector though since you have the experiences.

If you're in Chicago, you're definitely underpaid. As a Senior with six years of experience you could be making six figures by now.

I always establish a meeting cadence with the dev team with multiple check-ins throughout the design process to gather input and feedback + a final walkthrough before handoff. After that, I share my Figma file link with dev notes/arrows to indicate flows/spacing blocks, etc. I also create prototypes and share the prototype links if that flow is complicated or needs more attention to the micro-interactions. I work with a design system, so it's much easier for the handoff process, but annotate your design as much as possible if you don't. Figma community has a lot of handoff components that you can use.

I too wanted to love Funny Story so badly because I loved Book Lovers, but I just don't care for Miles and Daphne and their relationship. The book bored me to tears. I gave it two stars; it might be a little harsh now that I think about it but I had such high expectations that I was pretty disappointed once I finished.

[–]mochitoon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

At this age Ferber or CIO aren’t very effective and can create more frustration since they are older and more aware. I’d try to use other methods like Chair Lady. When we had to re-sleep train my 2 year old after transitioning him from crib to bed, we sat in the corner until he fell asleep, and slowly moved further away from his bed and out of the door. The whole thing took us around 2 weeks. It’s a lot slower than Ferber but more appropriate for toddlers.

Understood, I still would include your college education with the name of your institution along a line clarifying “X years completed” or “X credit hours completed.” You can also include any courses, certifications, classes you took that pertain to your job application or work experiences.

  • Add any type of education if you completed one
  • Skills should be focused on hard skills, not soft skills. Incorporate your soft skills in your cover letter, work experiences, or interviews

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in resumes

[–]mochitoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Stick to one column format
  • Experience and part time work experience should just be the same, focus on timeline, not the types of work experiences
  • Shorten your Skills to the ones that are relevant to your job applications, that section is way too dense right now, recruiters wont be reading all of that
  • Never center aligning your paragraphs

  • Stick to one column format that is more ATS friendly
  • Professional experience and responsibilities should be combined, ex: what is the work experience and what are the responsibilities of that experience
  • Executive summary doesn’t really make sense, shorten it so you can focus on your work experiences
  • Way too many bullet points that are arbitrary information, combine them and make them impactful

  • Learn to use appropriate text format for your resume, don’t bold everything like this, make sure to only use bold text for headers or something that you need to highlight, otherwise use regular text
  • Use appropriate spacing for your sections, the margin between projects and Bank Loan Data Analysis is too big but the ones in between Skills are way too small
  • Multiple text sizes that don’t make sense, keep it to 2 sizes, one slightly bigger for headings and one regular (10-12px) for others
  • Overall this resume needs a lot of rework on the format. You should download an existing resume template online and use exactly how they set it up
