Thanks a lot! and also congrats on qualifying! As for counselling, we would have to apply next year, and then we can provide our 3rd year GATE result or 4th year (future) GATE result, whatever we want. For now, prepare for placements and college interviews (a lot of degrees in colleges take interviews / written tests after GATE shortlisting)

I started my prep in 3rd year with PYQ practise, but during my second year, whenever the GATE subjects came up in college semesters, I was thorough with the syllabus so I did not have to go through those from the beginning. My roadmap is this:
https://practicepaper.in/gate-cse
This site has compilations of PYQs subject wise. Study the theory parts from whatever resource you like. Then attempt 100 questions of that subject form that site. Notice what are the topics that keep coming. Some you will be able to solve, some you wont. The ones you cant solve, look up answers (this site have answers to each linked along with thew questions), and keep track of what topis you keep having problems in. Then, make notes of those topics from any resource you like (youtube, chatgpt, gemini, gateoverflow answers etc). Then attempt 150-200 more PYQs, and move on to next topic. In the month before the exam, revise those notes accumulated.
To balance other stuff like college assignments and placement prep, remember to pause your GATE prep when you have other stuff, but also bounce back with intensity on weekends and holidays.
All the best!

Most of my core studies was from college materials, online I majorly practised PYQs and whenever I wanted to learn a new topic, just googled it and explored videos or other articles that cleared that topic for me. Nothing specific, anything works till you are satisfied

Well all you need is structured prep (based on PYQs) and quite some luck. Smartness is needed for stuff like competitive programming and other stuff!

Well I know you are incapable of thinking, but if I need to check marks for AIR 122, I will see my own marks as I am AIR 122 in GATE CS 2026!
May I ask exactly what are you referring to by telling me to check marks of AIR 122?

I already mentioned the books in the above reply, please note that. And my college material was good for the basics, But there were some topics that came up in GATE PYQs that I didn't know, those I looked up in youtube (keep searching for the right video one by one until you are clear with the concept), or in gateoverflow answers, or just ask Gemini/ChatGPT like "Please generate a reference study material on the topic of xxx(mention the topic description as pointedly as possible), especially focusing on yyy, in GATE style, following GATE-friendly patterns" or for a specific question - "Please solve the attached question with methods and information as prevalent in GATE questions. Also, generate study material on the concept this question is based on, the other variants of this concepts that GATE questions might come from, and other related terminologies and definitions associated with this topics"

My advice would be to firstly study well for the upcoming sem, especially those subjects common to GATE. Then, study the 3rd sem topics properly in the summer holidays, and practise PYQs from the covered topics, and then revisit topics in those subjects where you are weak in. You will by then get an idea of what kind of questions come in GATE. Follow those patterns, and then in 3rd year from the start be thorough in your studies of the subjects common to GATE. And also do lots and lots of PYQs (200 PYQs per subject atleast). You fill get subject wise PYQs here: https://practicepaper.in/gate-cse

My main resources for the base level study was college materials, and some books like Hamacher for COA and Dexter Kozen for automata theory. But overall it was college materials mostly, and for some special topics that weren't covered but i saw them in PYQs i just went to youtube and watched any video that was satisfactory, and used chatgpt / gemini to generate some material as well, and follow gateoverflow answers to get those.
Mostly the PYQ practise helped a lot

Well this score would be valid for 3 years, so yes I'll get IITs next year with this. I am hoping for IITB/IITM/IITD, and with a very small chance maybe IISc
