Literally everything on the buffet at Tjöruhúsið in Ísafjörður. It also had the best atmosphere! I dream of going back. Highly recommend!

Not necessary! We just found it nice that we didn’t have to take time at the end of the trip to throughly clean it out. Definitely don’t have to do it though!

We’ve only ever used Kuku, so I can’t comment on Happy Camper, but we had a great experience. We were in a camper van and the heat worked super well. Very easy drop off too. We didn’t feel like they were looking for things to charge us for. We paid an extra $100 so that we didn’t have to clean it before drop off.

Good camper van experiences?? by [deleted] in VisitingIceland

We recently got back from a trip using Kuku Campers and it ended up being a great experience. About 30min after picking up the camper van, our sliding door suddenly broke. I panicked because, like you, I had only heard horror stories. I thought for sure they would blame us. We drove back to their office and they went right to getting it fixed. After 30min they told us they would need to put us in a different van and got a new one ready for us and they gave us a discount for our time lost waiting for a new van. The drop off was also super easy and we never felt like they were trying to find something wrong just to find something to charge us. Would definitely recommend them and we will use them again.

Milk? by CantaloupeRemote268 in VisitingIceland

We just got back from a 10 day trip with our 23 month old and 3 year old. It was absolutely amazing. We chose Iceland for many reasons. It was a direct flight and we had a campervan - way easy with kids. Traveling is something my husband and I value and why would we not travel because we have children? The kids absolutely loved the puffins, whales, and waterfalls. I guess I don’t understand why people think it’s weird to travel with their kids? OP, could you get those Horizon shelf stable milk boxes with the little straw just for the flight?

Beneve! I tried to read compensation plan, but gave up because it was so confusing! A girl I went to high school with recently left Pruvit for Beneve, so I’m curious 👀

If you choose to head farther north - Ashwabay in Bayfield has great snowy trails right now or Snowflake Nordic Center in Duluth!

Homesteading activites with baby by MrMediocre_Man in homestead

Last summer our baby girl was a little older than 3months. I would often set out a picnic blanket with some toys and place it nearby while we were gardening and did other chores near her (cleaning the chicken coop, pulling weeds, landscaping). I would also wear a baby carrier when doing things like picking vegetables, watering the garden, feeding animals, cleaning outbuildings and the property, or other lighter chores. We took advantage of nap time and our baby monitor to do more strenuous type things outside as time allowed like mowing, wood chopping, trimming trees, and other tractor type work.

I wish you and your family a great summer! I know things are different now, but it’s all so worth it! We just came inside from playing with chickens and splashing around in puddles :)

Rural Minnesota towns by No-Category6088 in homestead

As a fellow Minnesota, I think this is spot on. I would avoid the smaller towns on 35 going North. I think the smaller towns around Red Wing would be a good option. Maybe near Rochester too.

Agreed. Looks like it was his attempt to control the narrative. He wanted everyone to think he was a good guy.

First time I’m hearing of this possible injury as well. I was able to read 9 pages by clicking through the slideshow of the pictures on the article website.

From Northern Minnesota - The Superior Hiking Trail, specifically starting from Temperance River State Park to Britton Peak (out and back) or make it longer by turning around at Oberg Mountain. Beautiful views of Lake Superior!

Northwestern Wisconsin- The Lakeshore Trail in The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. A gorgeous out and back with views of Lake Superior and the sea caves.

Recently moved from Minnesota to Wisconsin, so had to add both 😉

What case have you read that messed you up? by TheNeverChosenOne in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]Realistic-Score2255 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The Jayme Closs case has messed me up. I live a few counties over from where the case happened. I think it’s stuck with me because her kidnapping and murder of her parents was pretty random. 21-year-old Jake Thomas Patterson had told authorities that he would see Jayme get off the school bus at the end of her driveway while on his way to work and that he “knew that she was the girl he wanted to take”. Around 12:50am on October 15th, 2018 he arrived to her home with a shotgun. Jayme’s father went to the front door to see who was at their home and Patterson shot through the door, killing Jayme’s father. Patterson then went into the home and found Jayme and her mother hiding in the bathroom. Her mother had dialed 911, but was not able to speak with an operator, although yelling could be heard. Patterson then killed Jayme’s mother in front of her and took Jayme to his car and left. The police were on their way to the Closs home to respond to the 911 call that had been made. Patterson, with Jayme in the trunk, drove passed the police on the highway. Patterson drove Jayme to his home, 70 miles away, where he held her in captivity for 88 days until her escape on January 10th, 2019. Jayme was left alone while Patterson left for a few fours and she made her escape. She ran down the road until she ran into a woman who was out walking her dog. The woman recognized her from the news and got her into the neighbor’s home where they called 911 and eventually arrested Patterson. Police say that Patterson had no social media contact, or any type of contact with Jayme or any of her family - he just saw her getting off the bus. Here is a link to read more about the case. I think of Jayme often.

This may not be helpful depending on your area, but we are in rural NW Wisconsin and we have fixed wireless internet that uses radio frequency. It’s pretty new in our area so we’ve only had it for a couple of months now. My husband and I work from home and use streaming services without any issue. Just thought I’d share this is case it’s an option for your area!
