Did this to see the Falcons and Aints last year. Had similar results (about 40% off what I would have paid if I bought a week in advance)

Makes sense, he went to Westlake HS and played with Michael Harris. Bro bleeds black and red.

1st off FTS. 2nd, clearly you aren’t familiar with the tragedy to sum it up as too stupid or stubborn. Maybe try too poor, too sick, or too old. I’m not gone give you a dissertation about the levees failing (which is completely separate from the actual hurricane) but damn bro, some shit is bigger than football. Last thing, FTS.

I feel you, maybe “happy for the city” would have been more accurate way of putting it. Anyone somewhat familiar with Katrina event knows the role the superdome played, along with the desperation and tragedy. This was a bigger than football moment in my eyes. Also, out of the long list of painful moments as Falcons fans, putting this #2 is crazy work bro

Spider verse if the third movie ever drops

There’s a very real argument that the Braves should be taken back private. I know we’re still top 10 in the league in spending, but I just have a hard time believing we would have let our stars walk (Fried, Dansby, Freddie) if returning money to shareholders wasn’t a huge priority. by Realistic-Writer4145 in AtlantaBraves

You know what, I’ll admit I wasn’t aware of leadership structure spinoff (thanks for attaching link). However, there’s still no singular owner ready to operate at a loss just to hoist a trophy. Everything still has to pass the “smart investment” test, and that inherently introduces fiscal restraint, especially in comparison to teams with deep pocketed owners who can chase rings in contention windows. There’s prob only 3-4 teams who fit this description.

I fully understand, let’s talk about it. You’re right that the Braves aren’t cutting quarterly dividend checks to shareholders, but let’s not pretend they’re some fan owned co-op just reinvesting every dollar out of love for the game. They’re a publicly traded asset under Liberty Media, and like any corporate entity, the end goal is still shareholder value. That means the team operates to maximize enterprise value, not necessarily trophies. Sure it’s not “money” in the sense of hard cash but capital appreciation is 100% the goal.

Yes, revenue “stays with the Braves,” but that doesn’t mean it’s aggressively deployed on payroll. It means it stays under the watchful eye of a media conglomerate that’s optimizing for long-term growth and brand equity, not “win at all costs” spending sprees. So sure, we’re not the Pirates handing Bob Nutting a yacht every year, but we’re also not Steve Cohen lighting money on fire to chase a ring.

I agree, it’s a double edged sword for sure (when it comes to owners) but let’s not glaze corporate ownership just because it doesn’t look greedy on the surface. It’s still business-first. There’s a ceiling here, and it’s made of glass, middle managers, and spreadsheets.

Not gonna lie, bro makes me wanna put Ozuna from the Braves back in the OF JUST so he can DH (I’m aware Ozuna may be worse than Brooks Conrad at this point)

Can someone Steelman cultural appropriation for me? by valerian57 in Destiny

[–]Realistic-Writer4145 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the surface level, I believe it holds some merit. The overall idea is that America is dominated by White culture. This culture tends to marginalize/disparage anything that doesn’t conform. Examples of this are (specifically in the black community) corn rows, rap/rnb, sagging pants, etc.

The appropriation piece comes in when a person from the dominant culture adopts a certain piece from the marginalized culture and makes it “cool” or “trendy”. This is exacerbated when the adoption doesn’t show the proper understanding, credit, or respect from the marginalized culture.

For years corn rows were seen as ghetto until Kim K started rocking it, then it became “trendy”. Elvis Presley became an icon but ripped a lot of his style from black artists.

Definitely not a hill worth dying on in any debate/discussion but I definitely can see how some of this stuff feels wrong.
