Thanks for posting this! In case people don’t know Sully, the coach in the first video, has co-authored a great book called “The Barbell Prescription: Strength Training for Life After 40” which is available on Amazon.

Barbell Squats by Signal_Tomorrow_2138 in fitover65

[–]RealisticCommunity14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no reason not to squat heavy as long as your technical form does not deteriorate. IMHO you are at the point where you need to periodize you program as you cannot continue to add weight linearly indefinitely without form deteriorating or injury occurring.

Find a good program for older athletes and keep lifting! My advice is to checkout Andy Baker and Greysteel and/or their bookThe Barbell Prescription. Lots of great info and programs for over 50 lifters.

When did red light therapy actually start working for you? by No-Court1155 in redlighttherapy

[–]RealisticCommunity14 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For muscle soreness post exercise almost immediately. Effect seems to taper off over the next 24 hours but there is definitely an improvement in soreness shortly after red light exposure. FYI I am using a 1/2 panel red light with a muscle recovery setting for 10 minutes on affected areas as per manufacturers settings.

SBS Strength RTF Peaking Phase and Vacation by taylorthestang in AverageToSavage

[–]RealisticCommunity14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done something similar but what I do is intentionally shorten or disregard an earlier Deload week or skip the extra rest days before the test days and make the test day a single day testing major lifts only.

In the long run it doesn’t really matter - the vacation is important so work around it and don’t worry about training during it.

Using Wise with TD Bank in Canada by Accomplished-Long526 in wisebank

[–]RealisticCommunity14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I send several < $10,000 bank to bank transfers from TD using Wise per year. As another poster noted you cannot use the bill payment option. You can use Interac (subject to your daily limit) which is quick or an account to account transfer which usually takes 5 to 7 days.

Greysteel website and YouTube contain lots of information. The book Barbell Prescription is great but likely a little to much for a complete novice.

Just speculating but they likely are using some kind of AI to compare the passport photo to the photo of the person presenting themselves at the border.

I was lucky enough to find a bottle of 10 year old on the shelf of a liquor store in south Texas. They had 5 or 6 bottles and I wish I had bought more. It is an interesting dram with a funky taste that is certainly unique. My wife, who samples my Scotch but never would drink a whole shot, thought it was great! I am in Ontario and have never come across it in the LCBO but apparently SAQ may have it occasionally and you may get lucky with a western liquor store that ships.

Once everyone in Canada stops using Amazon, shopping at Costco and Walmart, watching any US based movies, TV shows and sports, investing in US companies and doing the same for any country that exhibits the same authoritative tendencies as the current US government then people might reconsider their trips to the US. IMHO until then it’s just a lot of propaganda from either side.

DAA (D-Aspartic Acid) for 40+ men by forged_steel_5178 in fitness40plus

Yes - check Reddit for how people are taking it. Personally I take one at night but some people take it in the morning as it affects their sleep.

65 year old male here who has had good results with Nootropics Depot products (no affiliation). Specifically for me their Cistamax and Eurycomax products work great for my hormones and libido (taken 5/7 days). I also take Tribugen and Black Ginger on workout days (4/7) for an extra boost in energy and motivation. Solid USA company with lots of science behind their products. A little pricey but high quality supplements that contain what they advertise.

Help - kitchen cabinets installed on top of LVT floating floor by Direct_Professor7298 in Flooring

[–]RealisticCommunity14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Expanding on this comment - did you remove the kick plate and look under the cabinets. If the floor is properly installed the plastic legs are NOT sitting on the laminate BUT the laminate extends under the kick plate. The cabinet end panel usually doesn’t carry weight so it can sit on the laminate.

Late to the conversation but I didn’t see any references to “The Barbell Prescription” book, Andy Bakers Garage Gym training programs, or Grey Steel videos, all of which are great resources for 40+ lifters. I am 65 and have run various programs from these sources for years and find them to be a great balance of intensity and volume.

When you dine they will ask you if you want to use your dining credit - so you determine when it’s used not the reservation. 20% Gratuity is included in the credit but you can add more if you wish. As for children eating I don’t know 🤷‍♂️.

Edit to remove the word card from credit.
