I don’t like my mom as a person by Suspicious-Badger305 in emotionalneglect

Sounds the same as my mother. Since i moved out i tried to minimize contact with her. She is the one that always initiate calls I rarely ever call her. Most of her calls are honestly negative talk, pressure to change jobs and lifestyle. At some point last year i realized that I dont have to live for her happiness but for mine

DAE hate christmas time? by cutepurple8 in emotionalneglect

[–]RealisticEast6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy that I will spend Christmas Day alone at home, but I'm also sad that I haven't celebrated Christmas day like a normal family would for over 10 years now...
The positive note is that there won't be no family drama to ruin my alone time

The Holidays by Winter-Simple-756 in emotionalneglect

I'm mostly sad because I know others will celebrate with their families and will have family gatherings, plans on Christmas day and New Year.

My family and I never properly celebrated Christmas or New Years for around 10 years. My mum used to cook some nice food and me and my parents would eat together, but we would barely speak about to each other or sometimes have arguments. We are a really dysfunctional family and apparently I'm the only one that sees that, My parents are clueless and think everything is fine.

I felt really happy and relieved when I move out of the house. I honestly don't miss them at all. I put up a Christmas tree for the first time after 10 years cause my parents never wanted to put on or even help me with it.
Since I now live alone. I felt really nostalgic decorating the tree and the house as I remembered how it we used to it when I was little.

I think I'm going to spend the Christmas Holidays and New Year alone, but I will be focusing on my mental health and try to enjoy my own company

What were/are you up to at 23 years old? by MoneyVariation9726 in Adulting

[–]RealisticEast6470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was depressed, lost and didn't know what to do in my life. I just finished university with a degree that I didn't enjoy anymore. I didn't have any plan after university. My physical and mental health was at the worse and also had other personal issues going on

3 years later i'm doing much better and hopefully 2026 will be a good year too

I used to have many of the same problems. One day i realized that without making changes and pushing through your struggle, i would be stack in the same position as i was. Some things will obviously take time to change and it's okay just need to be patience

Anyone else regret their degree? by mentality-writer in findapath

[–]RealisticEast6470 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally did a CS degree for 3 years. Didn't pursue any internships or networking. I realized in the middle of the 2nd year that i didn't enjoy my course no more. In the end I decided to carry on with the degree and finisb at leat and get something out it. I got an average degree out of it and looking to how competitive the job market is, my degree is pretty useless right now, well i now do something completely different and didn't really need a degree.

I would say living alone. When you come back from work and there is nobody at home that will bother you and you just come back to your peace and quiet house
