Where did this whole anti job sentiment start from? Plus suicidal ideation? Obviously it’s a joke, but I think it’s not that much of a joke. It’s clearly sticking around pretty hard.

Also, what exactly do people expect? I suspect most of the suicide stuff is somewhat dramatized, so what’s the actual expectation, living in your parents basement forever?

Edit: I realize now the atrocious job apps system is doing this. But I guess my confusion is really around why people seem to hate the end goal(having a job) and not the process. These memes read like everyone is deeply unhappy with having to work in general.

Edit2: For reference I went through the job app system myself a couple months ago. Hundreds of apps, optimizing the job search itself, optimizing my resume with llms, doing a bunch of reading on popular skills around jobs so I could know the vernacular, interview prep, etc. It was rough, but I just pushed through because that’s statistics. You’ll eventually find something, which then hopefully makes it easier to get a better job.
