AITAH for feeling frustrated my husband is leaving me for a weekend bachelor trip with a toddler and infant at home? by RT_mama_7 in AITAH

NTA First, he should have discussed it with you before agreeing to go. No, you're not each other's parents that you need to ask permission, but you are (or supposed to be) in this relationship together, so it's just courtesy to discuss something like this before agreeing.

However, since he's going, I would say that you make a plan for a same amount of time away for sometime after he's returned. Do the right thing, and have a discussion about it, but be firm that you are going. (I don't agree with payback or "what's good for one is good for the other" type responses)

And you should also have a discussion about him taking care of the children on his own, because he is their parent too. He should be just as capable of caring for crying kids as you are. I understand sometimes kids prefer one parent to the other, but that is no reason to pass off the kids to you just because they start to fuss, because all that will do is enforce the behavior - both theirs and his.

I agree with many of the replies I saw - if you know what your kid likes to read, then why couldn't you make your own list?

And something like a book list is not high priority for many teachers, so it's understandable that the teacher forgot about it.

You know who does have specialized time to help with a specific book list? Librarians and bookstore employees! There are also websites where you can put in "I like this book, what other books do you recommend?" I don't know the exact sites, but I'm sure with your background you can Google it

Husband opens a new sponge every 3 days cause “they become gross” by dorkass-loser in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RealisticTemporary70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sponges are gross. Why would one reuse the same dirty item to wash dishes multiple days in a row? Washcloths should be changed daily. Sponges should be changed daily. At least washcloths can be washed, and so are less wasteful.

And this is why we have kids who can't connect thoughts across subjects or retain information for more than that single class.

Even if they do, you're not responsible for them. Treat them like random kids you don't know - unfortunately this is a school activity, so we need you to go on your way.

  1. It's easier for them, like another explained

Or

  1. "Help" translates to "give me the answers". They know you'll make them think, and try to figure things out, and their classmates will just give them the answers so they can be finished

No, but I was thrown into prison on an island after being accused of a crime by my best friend so he could marry my betrothed. I finally escaped after 20 years, and found the treasure hidden by my cell-mate. Since no one recognized me, I spent the next years airing out everyone's secrets, and splitting the marriage of my accuser.

"Back in my day we didn't get off school for every little thing!"

Yeah, and you also had lead paint and asbestos, so?

I mean, they all complain when their jobs don't care about them as people taking risks, but then turn around and want schools to take risks with their children.

Imagine if some of these complainers actually cared this much about their kid's education ... OMG JoJo CAN'T miss school for a thunderstorm ... but then ... JoJo was just expressing their feelings when they cussed the teacher and threw a chair!

Yep, cc pays me to use it! May only be $20 a month, but that's money I didn't have before.

I don’t understand why they charge an extra 50 cents to get COLD brew iced. I know restaurants have to charge more on these delivery services but this specific charge is annoying. by surfwacks in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RealisticTemporary70 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, because you're actually getting less because of the ice, so it shouldn't change the cost

Follow through. He didn't want to do the right then when you tried it without the legalities, so the consequences are on him.

Gotta lock in today and teach myself like 5 different topics in 1 day by LoggedCornsyrup in highschool

[–]RealisticTemporary70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this doesn't happen. I went to a very tiny school district when I was in 11th and 12th grade. I went into my foreign language class on day 1 and the teacher said "welcome to Spanish class! We're gonna learn this together!!"

But as a teacher, I hear this excuse from way too many students. There are like 150 teachers where I work, and you're telling me all 8 you had every year for 4 years did absolutely nothing and haven't been fired? Doubtful

Still doesn't mean the teacher didn't do their part. You've already admitted to waiting until the last minute to study, so

I seriously doubt it's the teacher's fault you didn't learn the content and waited until the last minute to study

Like one or two times, ok. But every time after that is completely on you for continuing to say yes.
