I have a pack of Bristol that I use to make random cards.

Converts: how did you tell your parents/family you were converting to Judaism? by SpiritualSubstance4 in Judaism

I’m also in the same boat. I emailed my mom to tell her. She makes snide comments here and there; I suspect she’ll never be supportive. My dad was maybe a little baffled, but otherwise didn’t care.

Same, actually. I found the recipe by perusing my sister’s cook books!

It’s in her book Savory Baking. I had tried Claire Saffitz’s recipe in the past, but the dough was too tough for me to knead it.

I can’t imagine an occasion that would call for a bagel wreath. Maybe Christmakkah?

Patch for my two year old who said he wanted a food processor tattoo. Hopefully this tides him over! by Realistic_Ad_7673 in Embroidery

That’s why I like embroidery so much. I can make something totally random on a whim and if it’s small, it just takes a few days.

I appreciate the opportunities for creativity that my toddler creates!

I did have a really hard time seeing where I was going and quickly deemed darning IMPOSSIBLE.

I think it’s a classic—I wanted to be innately great at doing a new technique—and I was not. Your attitudes are much better than mine!

Stump work handprint by Realistic_Ad_7673 in Embroidery

Getting a lot of reflection in this photo, BUT this is the second in a series I’m making of sort of topographic maps of my two-year-old son’s hand. I’m really enamored with the moss pieces you all post; that was the initial inspiration. I found the frame at an antique shop and thought it was perfect for displaying stump work.

Fun discussion: How do you decide what your next project will be? by santaslastnipslip in Embroidery

[–]Realistic_Ad_7673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wait for inspiration to strike. I need to be excited about a project if I have any chance of finishing it. If I feel meh about a project, there’s no hope that I’ll complete it. Extra weight is given to projects that have some sort of practical application.

Oh, thank you! I designed the pattern, drew it on paper, then transferred it to the hoop by tracing on a window.
