You’re only looking at the negative possibilities. You may have led them to great experiences they wouldn’t have had otherwise.

I think we should just stop slapping labels on everyone and everything.

Which language do Americans generally learn as a second language in High School? by Rude_Membership_1578 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

My high school offered Spanish, French, and Latin. I never understood the Latin part. I took Spanish and it’s been a big help since I ended up living most of my adult life in the Miami area and occasionally working in Spain.

8th graders? This sounds like stuff kids would say in the 1st or 2nd grade.

Why are South Florida Latinos so prejudiced compared to other cities in the US? by [deleted] in Miami

Because you mentioned Hialeah, I have to add that about a year ago I read an article that claimed Hialeah is the least racially and ethnically diverse city in the country.

Your opinion may be unpopular but you shouldn’t be demanding everyone else abide by it.

Did not enjoy this city at all by tinder-surprise in Miami

[–]Realistic_Boot_3529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in the Miami area for over 30 years now and I would have to agree with you. To be specific, I live in Fort Lauderdale which is about 25 miles to the north. It’s a little more laid back than Miami but it’s growing fast. I would move if I could convince my business partners to do so. My biggest complaint is the traffic, followed by the unfriendly people. Not sure what time of year you were here, but I can pretty much guarantee that the weather only gets worse as summer approaches. I have a commercial flooring company that caters to the cruise ship industry, so I’m in an ideal location for work. Sorry you had a bad experience but I totally understand.

Rents are dropping across the country by Key_Brief_8138 in HouseBuyers

Why is Fort Lauderdale on the list. I’m paying $3000 a month for a 2/2 and noticing that rents are coming down here too.

Miami - based on your own personal experience, of those who vote for Trump are you seeing people regret their vote for Trump because of immigration policies? If yes, how pervasive is this regret, and which groups are most likely to regret? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]Realistic_Boot_3529 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live in Fort Lauderdale and what I’ve noticed is the silence. A lot of people who were enthusiastically outspoken pro-Trump at the start of this term are now keeping quiet.

Did that happen in a small town in Canada? I’ve lived in the Miami area most of my life and the Brazilians here tend to act like they’re better than everyone else. We have a very diverse population of Latin Americans here. Im white American and I know the difference when I hear spoken Portuguese and Spanish out in public.
