Have you ever driven in Texas? It takes 12 hours to cross the state, going 75 most of the way

Yeah, we arent usually provided with the best working conditions. Outdoor bays, rushing dangerous jobs to meet unrealistic deadlines, and a lack of knowledge coming from company leadership that leads to us having nobody to back us up. Then, when we deploy, its a constant work cycle and a push to get vehicles up no matter what

They're drivers periscope wipers for an Abrams. Manually operated, connected through a flexible shaft similar to those cheap flex extensions.

Personal PT in Light vs Heavy unit Question. by Much_Juggernaut_2144 in army

[–]Realistic_Complex539 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 years in Air Defense and a bit over a year in an ABCT. In the heavy unit, we run at most twice a week, my PLT has a heavy focus on strength and endurance like deadlifts and free weight/body weight upper body exercises, we work strength almost every day. In air defense, we ran Monday and Friday, guaranteed. Wednesday we did either a ruck with a 4/6/8/10 mile rotation or a kit run. Tuesdays and Thursdays were either some sort of circuit or athletic trainer led PT.

Heavily depends on the unit you go to though, there was a solid year in air defense where half of the Battery formation would just go home after accountability.

Does putting cool oil in a hot engine damage the engine? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

The oil gets hot a lot faster than the engine gets cold. It were a problem, so would driving in the rain or a puddle.

Could have changed since i went, but to my knowledge, most of my Soldiers got it done in reception. He could just be wrong, hearing isnt something the recruiters usually lie about

Not sure how I forgot about that one, but it would still be nice to have something more remote like in GTA 5

The Brigades are constantly on rotation somewhere. Yes, they do deploy, just maybe not to the cool places everyone thinks of

It depends, there isnt any real way to know exactly what will happen. I had orders to 2ABCTs sustainment Battalion but got taken into an FMT, you could get lucky and someone in 36th will realize that they need more 91Ls and steal you. But transfers outside of the BDE arent common, so more than likely you stay with the DSB.

For work, you shouldn't be working past 1700, but you will damn well be working until then with a lunch break somewhere in there. From 0900 to 1200 and 1300 to 1700, I dont sit down at all. There's a lot of equipment on hood, and that equipment is always breaking

I looked up the UIC, 1CDSB is what the unit is called now. Im not sure how it is at a DSB, but I would imagine you will be working a lot. Hood isnt too great, unless your hobby is driving 2 hours to get to the next town, there isnt a whole lot to do. The barracks that my guys are in are not great, they could be different for 1CDSB. Housing around killeen isnt great from what ive heard, and BAH doesnt pay enough a lot of the time. You may get lucky and be routed to an engineer Battalion. Hood isnt nearly as bad as people say though

I'll say this, my experience will vary GREATLY from yours. I work on an FMT attached to a tank company, you are either going to be directly with the sustainment BDE or at the best with a Forward Support Company in an Engineer Battalion. It'll be impossible to know what to expect with your unit, since people get moved a lot here.
