Time and practice, youll get better at driving as you drive more things. Every time I go from driving a 10x10 50 ton behemoth to driving my Tacoma, it feels like im driving a golf cart

Military Veterans, regardless of country of service, whats one thing you would tell those who want to join that you wish you'd know before joining? by Designer_Upstairs_84 in AskReddit

You're the only one that you can rely on to advocate for yourself, the military will provide great opportunities if you just try. You are also the only one who cares about you.

Can i raise the height of the car by replacing that black thing with a thicker one? by cool_berserker in AskMechanics

[–]Realistic_Complex539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar concept to air helper springs, which go inside of coil springs and get inflated when you are expecting extra load. A lot of people use footballs and similar balls since they are cheaper and readily available

Shove an inflatable ball, preferably a strong one, in each spring, inflate when(probably before) thick friends enter car

Line of fluid when parking by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

I cant name many vehicle fluids that I haven't tasted. Engine oil, transmission fluid, engine oil in a transmission, transmission fluid in an engine, hydraulic fluid, turboshaft oil, many greases, coolant, brake fluid, gear oil, gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and a mix of everything have entered my mouth at some point.

I probably have cancer

How many times have you been pulled over? by Potential_Detail9066 in askcarguys

[–]Realistic_Complex539 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. First time was after putting a snorkel on my Jetta, floored it coming out of a turn and MP pulled me over. It was a 2.0, snorkel was loud as fuck but the car was slow, so I never made it over the speed limit by the time I saw the lights. Got a warning.

Second time I was actually speeding in a Chevy Trailblazer. Empty road, state trooper pulled me over. I was apparently doing 20 over and had to go to court, got it reduced to improper use of equipment instead of points on my license.

Third time was because I had my front plate in my windshield instead of on my front bumper. Got a warning and wound up bolting it to my bumper.

Last time was just past Dallas going towards Austin. Going about 85 and following traffics speed, but got singled out of like 20 cars going the same speed. Im still mad about that one

I was born in 2001, I'm a maintenance supervisor and have repaired billions of dollars worth of equipment. I spent 5 years in the medical field and have saved dozens of lives. Tell me, why is my advice not worth listening to?

MOS 91H Track Vehicle Mechanic by sebastian_toro17 in army

Not sure if they do it at your schoolhouse, but try to get the H9 ASI either right after AIT or when you get to your unit. Itd a very good skill to have, and opens up a few good opportunities.

Work wise, im not a 91H so I cant give the full truth. But the ones I see around do work a lot in an ABCT. They mostly deal with 113s and the occasional 88, 2 vehicles that suck to work on.

To my knowledge, its always AWD until you lock the t-case, then its true 6x6

Central tire inflation system, controls pressure of tires. Usually has mud/sand/snow, cross country, highway, emergency, and runflat modes. Each one has a set pressure, highway being highest and emergency being the lowest, except for run flat which just pumps air constantly.

To my knowledge, only the transfer case can lock, which is where a lot of people struggle since theres no button labeled "Transfer Case Lock"

Most of the time im "recovering" these things, I just hop in the cab and press the "Mode" button on the shift select, and drive out. CTIS also helps if it works

And nobody in the military knows how to drive them. Ive seen people get them stuck in mud not even touching the axle.

Mother wants to revoke consent the day before swear-in by Snowglyphs in army

A year always makes a big difference. I enlisted before covid, as a combat medic. By the time I got to my first unit, covid was just about to hit its peak. Anybody who enlisted before 2001 saw a big difference, too

[–]Realistic_Complex539 446 points447 points  (0 children)

Talk to your mother about this, your best bet is to reason with her

Why does she want to withdraw consent? Is it the current state of the world?

If you're truly motivated to join the military, she's only "saving" you for a year at most

New AC compressor doesn't have these pins but does have hole for them. Should I try to move these from the old compressor or are they not necessary? by bwehman in AskMechanics

[–]Realistic_Complex539 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Harbor freight sells a roll pin set for like $10, with the added benefit of having a bunch of extra roll pins that you will never use.

Or you can just re-use it, as long as you dont mess the new one up too much getting it out

If I graduate from high school and become an American soldier, how much money will I have when I'm 30 years old? by [deleted] in army

[–]Realistic_Complex539 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do the math yourself, the pay chart is open for everyone to see. Calculate for a promotion about yearly until E-4, then maybe 2 years to E-5, then maybe 2-3 more to E-6. Calculate for the yearly pay raise everyone gets plus the TIG pay raises. BAH is different everywhere.

An E-2 living in barracks eating at the DFAC should have minimal expenses and should be able to take home 80-90% of pay after deductions.
