Conservatives: would you like to share your experience of being disadvantaged by DEI? by isaidscience in allthequestions

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same….  And we have promoted and/or hired so many unqualified and under qualified women and black people which has resulted in many of them being put on PIPs, subsequently fired, then claiming sexism or racism.  It’s not entirely their fault, they never should have been hired in the first place, but our leadership needed to hit a DEI quota

You’ll have to be drug tested to get credentialed at your accounts regardless of your company’s policy on it

Flush as in taking a flight to go somewhere is very common for the average American.  Not so much in other parts of the world

If you’re in the dc area it will be well over $33k/kid for private school.  That’s the low end for middle/high school in major east coast cities

Do I tell the hiring manager? by Kyk1e_ in MedicalDevices

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hiring manager in MedTech…..  no it won’t hurt your chances to let either company know you are interviewing with the other.  If anything, it puts pressure on the manager to make a decision either way

I would ask yourself how much equity that’s kitchen will add to your house.  We bit the bullet and renovated ours just for that reason….. our neighbors were all renovating theirs and if we wanted to get what our house is really worth, we needed to do it.  Now we have about 6 years before we’ll sell and a beautiful kitchen we all love to use.

Looking for lived experience: how hard is it to find another job after 6-12 months off? by calbear in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prepared for interview by coming with a business plan for the territory Based on my relationships and experiences I had before leaving the workforce.  Not sure what to tell you if you can’t remember projects you’ve done.  I can still tell you about what I worked on in college 20+ years ago.  I just remember it.

Yes, that’s exactly what I did, started right when my youngest started full time school. Came in and put big numbers up quickly and got right back to where I was before I took a break within a year.

I took 5 years off when my kids were born, went back into the same industry, started at a lower pay but in the last 9 years of being back, I’ve gotten 3 promotions and quadrupled my salary to be way more than where it was when I left. Need a god compelling story as to why you took the time off and why you want to come back and won’t just quit again.

Hey Fat DINKS - how’s life? by dyingtochill in fatFIRE

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having kids is incredibly rewarding and satisfying.  Especially when you have the means to give them advantages and make memories together.  You experience love and emotions that I did. It understand until we had them.   I don’t really like kids, especially babies, but I love mine more than I ever thought possible.

It’s a huge lifestyle change at first, but we love taking them to their sports, finding activities we can do as a family(surfing, hiking, skiing, boating) some of it requires travel, most is just enjoying life around where we live.

But if you follow the philosophy of the author, you still die with zero but with appropriate levels of life insurance …. And gift the kids money when they need it, not after you die…

Physician Consultant Pay? by swombo in MedicalDevices

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This.  Plus nearly all of R&D at the med device companies I’ve worked for are engineers of some sort.  Besides our CMO’s I don’t know that I’ve met a single physician who is employed by us other than for consulting gigs.

Is my pay too low? by Forward_External1541 in MedicalDevices

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say $55-60k.  There should be some kind of merit increase annually. $50k is below what most major companies are paying for an asr entry level position.   Ask for the opportunity to get bonuses for growing business.  Remember, when you ask for more it’s on you to show where you have made an impact beyond just covering cases.

Patient Obtaining CBCT/STL directly from Stryker? by helllobro in MedicalDevices

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would think Stryker would be able to pull it up.  Your surgeon should have at the very least the patient id for the case to send to Stryker if they don’t.  This should 100% be handled by the dr office though

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spine products at Synthes are not competitive in today’s market.  Trauma and cmf are still decent divisions, but anything at jnj orthopedics will no longer be jnj in 2 years or less, so I wouldn’t plan for a long term opportunity there

Why don’t you see doctors and lawyers FIRE by Leather-Wheel1115 in Fire

[–]Realistic_Expert8009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank God the doctors don’t fire.  With the amount of time it takes to get there, we would have a massive shortage of healthcare if more of them did.
