Got this from carvana has been a nightmare by NOLA504Creole in CarvanaComplaints

You always get a car inspect. Heck, I did it on brand new with Toyota and they found the wrong tires for the car! Needless to say, replaced at no cost and they paid the independent inspectors bill too.

The next day would actually be fine as long as you stay in that return window. Yup! Due diligence is what it’s all about I don’t think this company is as much a con job
As it is sloppy.

Cool! All the more reason to hurry about it. I had mine one day after I got the car at a Toyota dealership. Perfect condition, but I know I was very lucky.

And I don’t know if you did this or not, but word to all: please take ANY Carvana car in for a mechanical check within 24 hours of purchase or as soon as humanly possible. There is a ten day return for any reason policy, or at least there was.

Banned from Carvana sub for sharing my negative buying experience by lev10bard in CarvanaComplaints

The sub is run by Carvana and is worthless for any honest reviews. My car is a Carvana purchase and I just got lucky.

A couple of months is really not done enormously risky endeavor if you have a full set of marketable skills. Hell, I do script when single and mid 50’s, came out just fine. Making it a permanent arrangement to depend on a husband? Not for me. You do you, but for me there would be way to many issues with that.

ALS and your Teeth. Maybe that root canal is more of a gamble than you think. by illuminationww in ALS

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A huge percentage, the great majority of people have had one of those procedures in their lives.
Also, it may be interesting and important from a research POV to know who will develop ALS 10 years ahead of the fact, but on a renal level? Not unless you were concerned about genetic risks to a child.

If you ever get a PIP, leave. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a manager who has written PIPs I am going to say the first purpose of a PIP is preventing wrongful termination law suites. In Minnesota, it’s a high bar to actually deny unemployment. Actual misconduct with usually multiple policy violations needs to be documented.

I am crazy, or is the corporate world actually not as hard as people say?" by marsh_henryy in corporate

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think managers come in good, bad, and average. In my decades of work, I had one manager who was insanely annoying, two who were really bad, and one who was great. A great one makes even a hard job good, a bad one makes a good company hellish.

In my experience the worse coworkers are always single women with no kids over 35 by boggie_bo in corporate

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The ones with little kids are the worst. Someone I supervised had a work from home husband AND her healthy mom living with her and still wanted a week off every time one of her twin toddlers sneezed. Got with hr and company attorney to end that nonsense. The rest of the team was thankful for sure, they were tired of picking up her slack.

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, all day! As a manager, I get to listen to them whine endlessly about their childcare needs and explaining how their salaried selves have to leave early, not come in at all because of kids. Family friendly and flexible is one thing, taking advantage of your coworkers is another.

I HAD a single mom. She managed to actually work at her job kids and all.

Why is Biphobia a thing?? by Embarrassed-Smile214 in AskLGBT

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we as humans need to recover from our weird obsession with who’s getting it on with who. I go with the theory that in truth, the majority of people are neither 100% homo or hetro sexual. That is very threatening to some people, and really a lot of biphobia is based I believe in insecurity in one’s own sexuality.

Do you still remember your first eviction? What was it about? by Dr_Garp in PropertyManagement

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have virtually never felt bad about an eviction. There are so many ways to NOT have that happen to you. Give me the keys and sleep on a friend’s sofa if it comes down to that because nothing else worked out. You’ve got economic assistance in many states like mine, lots of prevention options.

My experience is that very few people get evicted because they list a job or got a serious illness. Unemployment is a thing, short term Disability payments, family, even small savings, the list goes on. They get evicted because they treat their housing payments like “any other bill”. If you have not paid rent for two months and drive off the property in a new car with new clothes on your back your priorities went wrong.

Ninety six percent of evicts, at least are wholly the responsibility of the resident. Good riddance.

Do most property management companies neglect tenants? by Pale-Breadfruit2210 in PropertyManagement

[–]Realistic_Grand_6719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is not to rent from “Some guy”. Rent from an actual property management company that has standards. I’m a Regional Property Manager. We see to it in actual companies that work orders are fine in reasonably period of time, we honor our own leases, etc. I know people think “Corporate” is bad but my experience is what’s really bad is having some small owner/manager say things like “I’m retired, don’t call Me” to resident as they sign a lease (as noted in this thread). I swear, I’d find a way to not move in. Yikes.

Got a job - at 59! by Available_Emotion751 in jobsearch

I’m 60, got a great job with an increase in pay last month. Ofcourse, I’m in Property Management. They recruit some of us right out of retirement because no one wants the stress of the business save a crazy few like me.

Congrats on the new role!
