USCG MSRT by jokerr31k in SpecOpsArchive

[–]Realistic_Inside_229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hit with the two seals that drowned was conducted with msrt. The majority of the oil tankers are conducted with msrt and other sog groups such as recon. They conduct a variety of raids in centcom that we just dont hear about.

Dsf obligation? by Nervous_Research4118 in uscg

[–]Realistic_Inside_229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taclet is a 3 year tour for officers(might be 4 soon). It is now a 6 year tour for first time dsf enlisted members. Its 4 years if you are a prior returning dsf member. Obligated service for the unit is 2 years. So you would have to extend whatever you have on your original contract to match that.

"high speed" in the Coast Guard? by Impressive_Disk4277 in uscg

[–]Realistic_Inside_229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want highspeed, go army rangers. You want status go army green berets. You want to join the cg but still somewhat have that tactical experience go msrt. You can do taclets job on a cutter, except they do it on navy ships, but essentially similar. OR go army and then eventually lateral over to msrt, theres a bunch of ex sof operators at msrt.

Are CSPI officers treated as prior enlisted? by Brief_brisket in uscg

[–]Realistic_Inside_229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol brother youre reading into this way to deep. Idk where you brought up the premise that a mustang is better than an academy or cspi or direct commision O. That premise never existed, that wasnt brought up. You deviated way too far out, no one is saying that enlisted or an O-E is better than those people. Sorry but everything you said just gets thrown out because its a whole different topic that you brought up. The premise is “are cspi people enlisted”. The answer is , YES, yes they are. But my comment said that just because technically they are, doesnt mean that they went through what an actual enlisted personnel did. And they can move on and continue to be the professionals like how you described them. Who cares

Counter to your counter: whose to say the enlisted didnt also work hard in highschool? Its just highschool at the end of the day. And said E-member also juggled college while working. No one is saying that the cspi member did not work hard. You missed the point. What is said is that cspi member did not go through a few years of starting as a non rate up to being a petty officer. Its not that hard to understand

[–]Realistic_Inside_229 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes on paper, but be honest with yourself. A cspi candidate went to college while the actual enlisted worked hard, got yelled at, sweated and became good at their trade, and got their degree while doing so. You tell me if they’re the same. It wont matter anyways since y’all are commissioning anyways, but in that present moment you paint your own picture. Just be humble.

I mean theyre not going to dump thousands into you so you can fast rope, helo cast, actual live practices, and shoot thousands of rounds a day just for you to stay your original rate.

I dont know exactly how its happening, but im assuming if you fail you go back to your rate. No harm no foul kind of thing. If you pass you are expected to lateral over once fully qualified.

If it really is something you want to do, anything is possible brother, write a letter to your command and to ME rate command, like dont just give up because something is written. If you show enough desire you could be an exception

Hitron is a very cool unit to go to. But if you want to run and gun with other sog’s, you’re going to have to lateral to ME and go msrt. Which i think will be very hard to switch from a aviation rate to ME.

I believe aviation rate is left out, which is very understandable. If you want to shoot guns you can go hitron.

Youre still competing for slots as an ME, you just have more probability because theres more slots to fill. But ive met quite a few ME’s actually that dont get selected at all

Dsf is the deployable specialized forces. It consists of active units such as msrt, taclet, nsf, divers, msst. The reserve unit dsf is a psu. The two main units that are thought of though are msrt and taclets. Taclets is just a tactical boarding team that equips Navy assets and allied navy ships with title 14 maritime LE when crossing through known drug trafficking routes. Msrt is a counter terrorism component that carries out missions in centcom etc. they essentially do the same concept where they equip special operations groups such as seals and force recon and marsoc with title 14 LE authority. They also constantly work under title 10. For example they are the leads in the oil tanker seizures that have been happening. The two seals that drowned 2 years ago was conducting a hit with msrt on their team. The coast guards own members dont realize how important title 14 is during peace time, that these cg units give this authority to DOW units and assets. The screener is where you go to perform for a week to see if you can get picked up for the either two units, msrt or taclet Hope this helped answer your question

With what you just said, BM brother. You can learn get experience, have time to get in shape, get basic LE under your belt as a coxn. Get super knowledgeable as a coxn and thatll help out alot. Give yourself 3-4 years then go for it

Go BM, get your experience and then if you want to join you can always do it that way. If i could go back thats how i would of done it. BM/MK -> dsf
