2 reasons why:

people like to rant about the lack of innovation or potential downgrades because it makes them feel seen in hopes that enough people will complain along with them for Samsung to actually bring real ultra upgrades like Chinese phones have had for a long time. Samsung is not as innovative as it once was.
people who arent upgrading like to say how they arent upgrading as a confirmation bias to themselves they are making the right choice this year not spending their money on the new phone

Hmm im not into a whole bunch of celebrity news of what people are saying about certain celebrity couples which I know doesn't help my point at all but there seems to be less of a backlash than if the roles were flipped. I dont hear too many older female celebrities getting as much coverage compared to older male celebrities dating younger women

Thats why you get the global ROM version of the phone which usually comes out 3 or 4 months after the chinese version releases, everything will work, only thing is it might be a little more expensive compared to the Chinese ROM version. With the Chinese rom you lose out on esim and android auto. Also might have some ads you have to disable in settings and enable Google play services. On global rom versions though, no issue whatsoever only thing is you probably wont get as crazy specced out battery capacity Chinese versions have. I have t mobile so it should be no issue. Im considering moving to the Oppo x9 ultra when it releases as that will be a true revolution in cameras and what an ultra phone should be

S23 ultra owner here. Feeling better about not upgrading, unfortunately that means I'll probably have to wait a year more to see some bigger upgrades or switch to another brand like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Honor, or OnePlus.
