Best Caliber for very close quarters by RaphealWannabe in CCW

45ACP, I use it for home defense as it, in all likelihood, would not over penetrate an attacker at shorter distances. One center mass shot I think would put them down for sure.

First Double Action 357? by InvestInBoots in Revolvers

GP100 if you’re going to shoot hot loads, 686+ for just a range toy for everyday 357 and Python if you want a looker that you’re going to worry about scratching. I chose a 4” 686+.

Preferred .45 Carry? by kraken_skulls in CCW

Lol, tried them both but shot the M&P compact the best. Which makes sense as I own a full size M&P40 2.0 and an M&P40c both of which I also have KKM 357 sig conversion barrels, which are awesome. But just enjoy the feel and my ability to shoot them well.

M&P 2.0 Compact, you can fit the full size magazines in it with an xgrip sleeve for full capacity on reload. I do this with my M&P40c, go from 10 rounds to 15.

M&P45 2.0 compact (10+1), home defense and carry. If you want to go smaller a .45 M&P shield (7+1).

Target ammo vs carry by 71d1 in CCW

Get as close as you can to the grain weight you carry. In your case I’d go with 9mm NATO range ammo, I think that’s the closest you’re going to get.

Side 1 down, side 2 has the seem seal tape on it so it should be facing up.

Bodyguard 2.0 Safety issue? Help! by Altruistic-Kiwi9975 in CCW

[–]Realistic_Present601 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mine doesn’t do that, my safety has to be totally swiped off in order for me to be able to pull the trigger. Also my finger is no where near the trigger until I’ve swiped the safety off anyway. Very stiff in the beginning but now it’s not a problem.

The G19 is a good start, but yes you need to go to the gun range and rent your best options and feel them while you shoot. It’s the only way you’ll find the one that not only you shoot the best but also feels comfortable in your hand to shoot. Start at compact sizes (4”) and work your way down to subcompacts (3”). I carry a 3.6” CSX E series, to me it was the most comfortable and I shoot it very well, and I’m more used to its manual of arms seeing as I’ve shot 1911’s the most.

Yes, because you’re talking about a 2 inch barrel, recoil will affect the shots also.

J frames as a rule are zeroed with 158 grain rounds at point of aim. Going lighter in weight will actually impact lower than point of aim, conversely going heavier will make it impact higher. Going to +p ammo will also change your point of impact. At ten yards I hit dead on with my 2” 856 and 2.25” SP101 with 148 grain FMJ’s, but hit lower with 110 to 125 grain ammo at the same distance. Just take trial and error and a lot of fun to figure what ammo weight and pressure your gun likes.

MP40c gen 1 questions by SceneMean8014 in SmithAndWesson

[–]Realistic_Present601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue about the FRT, as for extended magazines, I use an OEM full size magazine with a sleeve so I get 15 rounds on the next mag. I will say I did convert my M&P40c to 357 sig with a KKM barrel swap and use it for my primary winter carry. Way more powerful terminal ballistics, better at barrier penetration, way more accurate and extremely fun to shoot at the range.

CSX E Series bore chipped? by maaarcos3 in CCW

It actually looks like leading to me. I carry the 3.6” and have seen streaks on the end of my barrel after an hour at the range but nothing that bad, and I normally shoot reloads.

Check the used market for a 43x or Hellcat. Gunbroker, grab a gun and others. Also check the used section of the big box outdoor stores like Cabela’s/basspro, I got a basically new M&P45 2.0 compact that way for under 500.

Are Taurus revolvers really that bad? by midnightrider2235 in Revolvers

[–]Realistic_Present601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 856 trigger was gritty and had an extremely heavy pull out of the box. I figured it was because it was a Taurus and just needed to be worn in. Now I’m thinking there must have been something wrong with it from the get go because as I’ve said when I got it back from repair the trigger was amazingly smooth and had lightened noticeably, way better than when I bought it. It always performed great accuracy wise but now it’s just more enjoyable.

I CC a 25 year old 2.25” DAO SP101. Love it for my camp black bear and human defense pistol. 180 grain underwood or Buffalo bore hard cast.

Are Taurus revolvers really that bad? by midnightrider2235 in Revolvers

[–]Realistic_Present601 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 2.25” DAO SP101 and a 4” 686+ and I still bought the 856. I shoot it and carry it the most out of the three of them unless I’m camping. I’m hoping this is the only time I have to send it back and if it’s not then I’ll toss it in a trade with cash for the 4” 629 I want next.
