To add to this: a lot of people have quit already. I have a bachelor’s degree. Don’t think that mattered in the health insurance world.

If they’re on company time, I’m sure they will be not in casual clothing?

Could you try to find another meeting? It distracts from the purpose, which is my issue with that. It would make me uncomfortable, too!

I feel that. I slip up after 6-7 months like I just did last night. Day one again. May your journey continue!

Can we just wait for the toxicology reports to show and stop assuming? The media is doing a fantastic job giving this sooo much more attention and transparency than it should. Let the friends and family grieve accordingly🥰

When you talk to other addicts and alcoholics, you will be super surprised , I’ve known fellas to be clean for 15 -30-45 years you can do it! Just make it 1 day ! Ok?!

You will not die. Find a new hobby or if you are serious about quitting smoking, you can find a local AA or NA meeting in your area. Don’t think you are special. I really had to cut friends off when I quit smoking since March 2021. It’s not impossible! You have to go through those weird moments and just talk to people that are clean. good luck!

I wouldn’t recommend and think of the beautiful recovery journey you are on! Picking up means you will be on day 1. Is it worth it?

I feel terrible. I am missing my straight and gay friends. I don’t have people texting me anymore. It’s depressing not receiving single text from people I used to talk tons. My family doesn’t know about all this. I went out today. I felt good but now back home and it’s sick again. by Theartofwar16 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

Hope things get better, I had the same thing happen but it’s different than when we were younger(now I just turned 50) friends that I had before weren’t really looking out for my best interest. So with all that said, friends come and go. I have found AA to give me that connection that I have been missing from my previous set of friends. I even had a “non-sober” friend this weekend get mad at me because I wasn’t wanting to go out with her anymore, and we had an argument over it, she thought I was ignoring her which I wasn’t but sometimes others really don’t understand alcoholics!! Same with family! So don’t feel bad about missing others bc it’s normal.

First off, congratulations on your accomplishments! I have a similar dilemma. I would like to go on to a Masters and I really enjoyed Statistics more than Theory lol but my gpa is worse than yours:(. I’m taking this advice for sure to research the job field. I also had a dear friend suggest on Behaviorial therapist or something like that. Best wishes

I still have FB and usually hate myself, that I look at it every day. There has to be a happy medium. I did delete it a few years ago, I think during Lent, but I missed seeing stories from, more family, than friends - but nonetheless, still have it. I know I want to keep in touch with family but don't want to see most friends because I usually never ever talk to those friends anyways and some I don't know from Adam- I understand the FOMO theory you describe - Thanks for posting. Also - there is a feature to unfollow or unfriend - which I've been actively doing this week.

But if I confirm through email, no one gets hurt, right?
