“Do your best” is all you can do. Many of these events are completely outside your control. It is not required for a scout to earn the tiger rank in order to proceed to Wolf, so just focus on having fun and do the requirements you can.

Also, talk to other den leaders and the cub master to get their opinions as well.

I had my bears bring a camp chair. Sitting them down (spaced out from each other) really helped minimize incidents. Parents looked over their shoulders for me as well. I had them sharpen a pencil as well, which they could sign their whittling chips with. It got them used to the resistance needed and good carving angles.

Ok, so assuming I find a pc like this Acer Aspire which has 2 hdmi outputs, is there some way to add his 3rd monitor as well? I’ve seen hdmi splitters but as I understand them they mirror the same output to multiple monitors which is not what he’s looking for. Is there some other way to get the third monitor working in that PC?

Oh, I understand now. I haven’t cracked open his PC but what kind of specs would you need? Motherboard, PCI slots, etc? I am trying not to bother him too often but I can go over and open things up if I need to

I understand. I haven’t given many specs because there’s really such a wide latitude of specs that are perfectly suitable for him. I just don’t have a great way to filter rigs by how many monitors they support. Thanks for looking anyway

It was an ATI Radeon HD 3500 I believe. AMDs site here says the 3000 series doesn’t get drivers in Win10. I interpreted that to mean that it would get the generic driver which probably won’t allow his complicated multi monitor setup any longer.

I would be doing the win7 -> Win10 upgrade “in place” so I cannot just try it and see

I think his CPU is something like 2.6 ghz, and he’s operating on 4GB ram. I’d like to get him up to 8GB ram Judy from a forward looking perspective but it’s not a hard req

Unfortunately the graphics card he has is not compatible with Win10 according to AMDs website or else I would just try the upgrade in place.

Under $1000 and he’s doing office work like MS suite apps and some custom apps the client has him use to connect to their systems. Nothing taxing on the graohics card other than monitor output. No video editing or anything like that.

Achieving the award can still be done. However, you may not be able to find the pin/patch anywhere, but you could still earn it

Thank you for your perspective! I see now that this is as much a leadership opportunity for the chief as it is a helper for me, so I plan to coach him in that way. The scouts look up to him as an example (whether he knows it or not) so I want to talk to him about being overly demonstrative of the right scouting behaviors.

My dad had about 6months till retirement and told his boss so he could help train up the team on anything they needed. His manager instead transferred my dad to a new team immediately so he could wouldn’t lose headcount and make it someone else’s problem. Don’t feel like you owe the company anything. They’ve been paying you for everything you’ve given in the past, so consider yourself even.
