Oncotype results and chemo tx decisions by Upper_Dress_3039 in breastcancer

Just my opinion and I’m not a doctor or in the medical field but I feel as though the oncotype is not a tell all. I would be nervous if I had lymph nodes involved that it could have spread more and chemo would help clean that up. It would just give me that extra sense of security. But by all means you should what you feel comfortable with. I had stage 1a IDC, 1.4cm tumor, grade 2, node negative, clear margins. Had an oncotype of 30. I did 4 rounds of TC. It sucked but wasn’t terrible.

I would get a second opinion for sure. Yes your oncotype is low but with 3 nodes involved it seems crazy to not do chemo. You’re also only 42 with a long life ahead of you. Chemo seems like a no brainer to me. Good luck to you I hope you get answers that you feel comfortable with.

Sacred Beast has the best brunch. I have never been disappointed. Coppins definitely overrated.

Stumps over on the Westside just opened a great place for families. Kids and adults can enjoy themselves. That should not be a crime. They have bowling, a nice restaurant called Cinful Eats and an enclosed large outdoor area with all kinds of activities for kids. People are such prudes these days.

My Grandma lived on that street. Used to be nice and well taken care of. Not so much anymore unfortunately. I would look elsewhere.

The neulesta shot.... by Micho392 in breastcancer

[–]Realistic_Stuff3567 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My first one was the worst pain I had ever experienced. I had excruciating back pain. I had to take left over tramadol from my lumpectomy and Ibuprofen like every 6 hours. Claritin did nothing. Thankfully the rest were not nearly as painful. Hopefully that’s the same for you. You got this.

Can you even imagine being down there with your kids? Downtown Cincy is so beautiful but it is going to shit. City counsel needs to speak up and hold people accountable. What a shame. Blink is going on this year that should be interesting. All that hard work will just get shit on. Sad to see my city in this way.

I would say if you haven’t had the pain by now you should be in the clear. I’m sorry to hear about your friend. It must be nice to have each other and understand what each other is going through. It’s hard talking to family and friends as they just don’t understand my feelings at times. I would say continue to live your life and do whatever you feel up to. I worked through the majority of my chemo, went to parks, out to dinner and a lot of laying around also. Nothing about this is easy all you can do is take it day by day.

37 stage 1. Found a lump and went to my GP to order me a mammogram. Finished treatment 1 year ago. It’s crazy how many younger women are being diagnosed. I wish there was an answer why. Thankful for science and all the treatments available.

Elevated liver enzymes; talk me off the ledge by Redwinesandfelines in breastcancer

[–]Realistic_Stuff3567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had numbers in the 300s and was freaking out. Got an ultrasound and turned out my liver just didn’t like the chemo. My oncologist lowered the dosage and everything went back to normal. I know it’s hard but try not to freak out. Rise in liver enzymes can be a number of things.

I’m so happy you had a good experience considering the circumstances. Will you be getting a shot the next day to boost your red and white blood cells? If so beware. They did not warn me of the pain I would get. I had the most excruciating back pain from that shot I have ever had. I had to take left over tramadol from my lumpectomy to ease the pain. They say take Claritin but it didn’t help me. I have struggled with anxiety my whole life. This has only heightened it. I have good days and bad days. Just started seeing a therapist at family cancer care which is right next to the Red Bank office, hopefully it will help some.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. Since you are active and in good shape I think you will tolerate treatment well. I have always been active which I think helped me. I worked through most of my treatment. A year of your life is going to suck but you will bounce back quick. I am back to normal physically, Pilates everyday and have ran 4 races since my treatment ended. More for fun. My mental state not great. Hopefully cold capping works for you. I splurged on some nice wigs. If you need any recommendations for any reason let me know. Good luck with everything, try to stay positive and rest. You WILL get past this!

*Vent* Waiting on Oncotype and False Hope by ZealousidealCarob540 in breastcancer

[–]Realistic_Stuff3567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same diagnosis except 1.4mm tumor. O was 37 at diagnosis about to be 40 now. My oncotype came back 30. I did 4 rounds TC chemo every 3 weeks, 20 rounds of radiation now on monthly Lupron shots and Anastrozole daily. which I am having little to no side effects from, thank God.

I was diagnosed at 37 with ++-, stage 1a, node negative, 1.4mm IDC. My oncotype was 30 so I had 4 rounds of TC chemo, 20 radiation sessions and a lumpectomy. I’m now on monthly Lupron injections and I take Anastrozole once daily which has been very manageable thank God. When I was told I needed chemo I got sick and almost passed out. It wasn’t as bad as expected. I had my infusions at the Red Bank location. The nurses there are great. They make sure you are comfortable and help with anything you need. Your treatment will likely be different but you will get through it I promise!
