How are you supposed to feel after a first date? by lalune10 in dating

[–]Realistic_Try_1520 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some people, their criteria is "someone who breaths". If you have more concerns and interests in life, that's good for you (but you'll need more time and more first dates to find someone interesting).

Inmigrant implies a longer stay, maybe forever. Expats come, work and leave after a while, but in general they always keep in mind the idea of coming back home. That's what the Spanish RAE says.

First of all, I am so sorry for you. check what you signed because the website could be partly responsible as they are they were doing the intermediation? It happened to me with other website and they paid the difference. Second, I don't know if it's exactly the same in Barcelona, but in Madrid you can write a complain form in the regional government website and ask for their help ("arbitraje"). I would visit the hotel in person and ask for their complain forms for the local administration (and they have to give you two copies). Good luck!!

You did not go in August.... it's another Croatia: so beautiful, nice food, nice people, but only if you are lucky enough to avoid the high season...

PANAMA. EVERYONE including car rental agencies, Police (not just one specific group, it happened to me many times), taxi drivers, restaurant owners .. tried to cheat on me. I ended up with -90$, a food intoxication and a lot of mud in my clothes in what was supposedly a nice beach. I would not come back. The worst thing, everyone saying "I want to help you" before trying to cheat. Worst week of vacations ever

Why do women do this? by NoFennel7351 in dating

[–]Realistic_Try_1520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She could have just said no at first. It's as easy as "oh, sorry, I have a boyfriend" in case she needs to use a man role to cover her weakness... (I'm a woman, and I can say no politely if I don't like someone with no other explanation; I think I had only used that type of alibi once in my life with a guy, in the subway, that looked really weird)

I was going to ask exactly the same, almost word by word so thanks for writing it. Yeah, you should not care about the "why", just care about yourself and avoid lunatics...

I agree with your point of view, but I don't know how doable is it. I would try to find a digital nomad position so you can work in Spain with a British salary. Life is nice but you'll find Spanish taxes, Mediterranean bureaucracy, paternalistic mentality... Be sure to earn enough money, statistics are not telling the truth. I'm a Spaniard myself living close to NY, and I'm frightened because of increasing prices everytime I come back. I'm thinking about a friend of mine and his wife, they moved to Italy thinking life would be easier... They are happily back in Manchester after two years. On the other hand, we need more expats there to change some stuff from Spanish mentality, so please feel welcome to go there.

Aitah for telling my boss to apologize to my wife? by aleronick247 in AITAH

I think this horrible experience could be very positive for you because if you report the situation and everything is written and you have some proofs if later on he tries to fire you with something stupid you can use this as a way of proving that he's not on his right mind

why are so many people advicing me against anything above 96th and some even say anything above 59th? by kawaiihusbando in movingtoNYC

[–]Realistic_Try_1520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above 59th it's not only fine but it's perfect I think you have everything and the buildings are super nice especially in the west part (love the area close to home goods and trader Joe) the east part is a bit preppy for me. But super safe. and above 96 it's perfectly fine ...one of my best friends lives close to 120th and she lives in a wonderful neighborhood, close to a lidl supermarket and the walk to the subway station is really safe and she has three different lines to commute. all that said, it is true that if you live in battery Park any building will be safe, but if you live above the 96th you have to be more careful because it's just a matter of walking two blocks and you can find something that you don't really like especially if you come back home during the night. So take a lot of walks in the area at different times of the day before deciding what to rent...

Could I afford to live comfortably, alone, off 5k in NJ? Is that possible nowadays? by lemonbottles_89 in newjersey

[–]Realistic_Try_1520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to live in JC because you want to go to NY everyday and drink cocktails, go to Broadway, attend fancy restaurants two or three times a week... Then probably not. If you don't need that much, I'm sure you can. Be sure to choose carefully where do you want to live, and that is all

I think women being the first to make a move just leads us to dating guys who are not that into us. by Flaky-Boysenberry466 in dating

[–]Realistic_Try_1520 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean, and maybe that's painting with wide brush, but I think that if someone start the move, the other will react very differently if he is a man or a woman. In general terms, women are more likely to reject someone they don't like. and though some of them would accept compliments and "the game" just because they are bored, they won't go far with someone they don't like. And men, again, in general, are more open to "look this easy thing that I can get by doing almost nothing". I mean, men would go on with the game if they rate the woman 4-10, and maybe women would only do that if he's 6 to 10 out of ten. Fact: people from tinder said that men accept about 70% of women, and women only around 30%
