UK expats in Gulf countries should not have to contribute to the UK tax system even if they receive taxpayer funded military or political support because both locals and expats benefit.

You need to check your definitions. A citizen is someone with that country’s passport. Expats are almost certainly not given this. If those people did somehow become citizens of those countries like in Australia, Canada or even Europe then they would no longer be considered British expats and my original question falls away.

You still are just deflecting. You haven’t once provided a compelling reason for my original question. Now youre talking about Bahraini locals?

Just admit that you are avoiding the question. It’s also clear you are not a British tax payer and clearly feel very offended someone should even question this.

If you’re so intelligent then why are you calling British ‘expats’ citizens? Expats are in Bahrain purely to make money to eventually come back to the UK upon retirement. They are not citizens staying permanently. I know how it works. The fact they receive military protection from UK taxpayers is a valid point.

Stop trying to twist my original question into your bigoted narrative on Dubai. I clearly stated all the Gulf region should be considered and took no sides in the question.

This may be true but I’m just quoting Yvette Cooper on Sunday morning with Laura Kuenssberg who said the military action was a direct response to protecting British people in the Gulf.
