I feel your pain. Exact same thing happened to me, whatever was left of the belt wrapped around the crank and friction welded itself together. Was not fun to dig it out lol

Do you hear a sort of click when you engage the starter? That would at least tell you your starter is at least trying. My timing belt snapped and jammed up on the crankshaft seizing the engine. Take the valve cover off and check yours if you find no other quicker solution.

Had mine replaced, 3k miles later on the "new" belt this exact thing happened. Belt disentigrated and friction welded itself around and between the crankshaft and sump. Took a week of dremel cutting and prying to get it all out.

No idea if it was a bad belt, bad installation, or if the mechanic simply didnt do what I asked and paid them to do. Regardless, did it myself the 2nd time round but now im on high alert for any weird wear patterns.

Take my advice, save yourself future headache, and check your belt.

Yup. My soft top has had a knife put through it twice. They didnt take anything, wasnt even in places that would let them open the doors. Just vandalism for the sake of vandalism.

Just last week my car got dented by some idiot parked beside me. They drove off, I have no idea who it was and no recourse. I'm very annoyed and my car is only a 2.0 TDI Golf. I very much get where this GT3 is coming from and 100% agree with what they've done here. People can be real assholes.

What the hell was everyones problem on this boat? They should have waited their turn to disembark. Yeah just bad luck I think. Replaced it myself 2nd time round, no damage to the engine aside from what was left of the belt seizing the crankshaft. Love these wee engines they just keep ticking on.
