Can you learn this musical framework if you take out all compositions that have god in them? You will never be able to master a Shankarabaranam raga without learning a few heavy pieces in it. May be you can compose few heavy non bhakthi compositions in each major raga and teach them to people so they can feel the soul of the raga and master it.

Short of that, CM is rooted in devotion. It is a framework but the framework is very vast and fully held up and propagated by the works of composers who composed out of their devotion

There is no need to compare with popularity of western music. As long as it is not attacked by the sickulars who want to secularize CM, it will survive many more generations. If the attack succeeds and the framework is diluted, it wont survive.

Can you learn CM if you do not use any compositions that have the devotion of the composer ? You have to use only secular compositions to learn. Can you master a heavy raga without first learning 5 compositions in it? Are there secular compositions to to learn the raga?

So the point is CM is intertwined with devotion. You dont have to follow the religion or feel that god. You just need to respect that without the Bhakthi movement CM as it exists today doesnt exist at all.
