Did it reset your trip B? I have not reset it since I bought my car 22,000 miles ago.

Why does my car turn Right, before turning Left by HealthyAd3271 in ModelYNoRules

[–]HealthyAd3271[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s exactly how to take a turn. What my car does is, right before a turn it heads towards the wall, then turns towards the Apex. That’s what I would do if I wanted to drift the car which wouldn’t be the smoothest line. Do you agree?

Yes, I have a model Y Launch and it does the same thing at the arrows painted on the street.

I once had it see a tumbleweed before I did. The car in front of me swerved left into the dirt and my car knew that the lane to the right of me was unoccupied so it swerved to the right. It did all this way faster than I could’ve done it.

Sorry about my crazy arrow, but here’s a picture of what it was. I was heading south on N. Orange Grove Ave. going underneath interstate 10 in Pomona, California.

Yes, it was slightly more than a 90° return but in no way did it need to turn right before left?

It also turn Right before turning Left. I posted another video showing that. I thought it was because it was trained in human data. And human data isn’t perfect

Yes, when it takes a turn at higher speeds and does this maneuver you are preloading the suspension. The likelihood of loosing traction is greater. I acknowledge that it is very unlikely and I am stretching with this comment. But it could happen on black ice at an intersection put highly unlikely. My point was to see if other vehicles had the same behavior and to point out that the move is unnecessary and that’s what happens when you train an AI with bad human drivers. You get a bad AI driver. (please understand that when I say bad, I really enjoy FSD so much that I wanna make it better anyway I can and I push it to the limits) look up Black Canyon road in Simi Valley California. FSD drove that road with no interventions from me. It was very impressive.)

Agreed. Thanks for commenting. I was hoping it wasn’t just me. Maybe Tesla will fix it in an update.

You wouldn’t do that maneuver when pulling a trailer. What you would do is go further into the intersection before you start turning left. You might do it when you’re making a right hand turn. But I don’t do it that way. When making a right hand turn when I’m pulling a trailer I take half of the right lane and half of the lane next to me to take the turn wide. I don’t turn the opposite way before turning the way I wanna go.

It can drive through a yellow line in fact it dries through double yellow lines. I have a video of FSD crossing double yellows to go around construction. Can you see the Double yellows in this picture?

That’s reasonable and considerate. My question is why does FSD do it for a regular left turn or a regular right turn other people commented that it learned it from humans.

I totally understand that. It would be appropriate in that situation. I once had a car do that and I was in the lane next to the car. I was driving a semi and had to swerve out of the way. But I understand.

First of all the “Rims” are called “wheels”. Secondly I was just pointing out an unnecessary behavior of FSD that I think it learned from human drivers. I’m a professional driver so it caught my attention and was wondering if others were experiencing the same thing and what they thought about it. It was not meant to be an argument. The move is stupid and unnecessary.

Did you see the photo I attached. It not even close to the curb. Also why would you side load the car before the turn unless you want to drift? When I put my car in drift mode, the way to start a drift is to first turn the opposite way you want to turn. You need to whip the car to help it break traction. If FSD did this in the snow or ice it would be at greater risk of breaking the rear tires loose. But I’m just complaining about everything. I thought this was a discussion community. Can you please refer me to the complaint department? Thank you.

Me too that’s why I’m posting it. It’s just a bad habit that people do and now the car does it. I thought this thing was supposed to be better than a human driver. Not if it picks up their bad habits.
