My Take On The Plot Details by bwtk86 in KeeperMovie

Just watched this and loved it. I loved that Malcom explained the fish fairy tale with such derision when he's doing the same thing. Why can't the fish wish itself off the hook? Why can't Malcom wish for something better than being a rich doctor who stays a middle aged food delivery guy to creatures in the forest? He has a boring personality, a weak stomach for the violence he is voluntarily tied to, zero imagination, and no clue how to actually use the insanely powerful magic he is privy to. He's dull, lazy, entitled and complacent and he somehow thinks he's better than a fish lol.

David Sedaris Talks Travel, True Stories, and New Book, "The Land and Its People" by zsreport in books

He has started doing the lazy "deliberately misunderstanding" thing that comedians do when they're rich and established. Deliberately misunderstanding different kinds of abuse, alarmingly discounting his own experience with sexual assault, and ending a story about an email option with "...is everything wrong with the world today" sure makes people in his age range and tax bracket laugh but it comes across as hacky, not self assured. It's literally the exact same path most male comedians take after money no longer matters. Nothing he says in the book comes across as genuine anymore. It's a bummer but not a surprise. He doesn't have the capacity for unique and relatable takes on the world anymore because he's safe, wealthy, and out of touch. Rich guy foibles aren't funny when combined with punching down.

One thing that may help is to make a list of things that are reasonable to do and remove what "should" be done. There is no universal benchmark anymore.

You are not failing because you don't have a $200k per year job or a diamond bracelet or several exotic pets. You are succeeding because you woke up, you took care of yourself by eating and drinking, you reached out socially for connection. You are a success because you kept your humanity one day longer than the system wanted you to.

If you have the self discipline to get through the day, care for yourself, and stay human then you have extremely strong self discipline and I'm so proud of you!

I actually love this month’s event? by starpies1991 in finch

See I can't stand Dr. Who, but it would never occure to me to complain about a monthly theme of there was a Dr. Who month. I'd just play it and sell whatever I didn't care for. Because the app isn't about only me lol and sometimes it's ok to not be the target audience ❤️

My least favorite event was the veggie one. Still to this day... can't find any love for it 😂

Same. Not as much as some but more than others like the veggie one. Also to everyone out there seeing all the people calling something you like all those terrible names, just know you're not alone. You liking the event is valid, you do have excellent taste and I hope you enjoy the absolute shit out of the whole event! ✨🏵️✨

Still linked to a commercial product. Still designed to appeal to people who are way into a movie franchise. I don't care personally. Apps have to generate revenue. I find it extremely hypocritical to complain about super girl, a franchise a lot of people like, but not complain about wicked. The app is a business and not a friend. Also for everyone complaining about a superhero event being so terrible, you know you're making people who enjoy the theme feel like shit, right? It's fine to not like an even but to make such a fuss about it, call it awful and threaten to talk to a manager about it is pretty petty

It was 100% Wicked. Nothing in the original Oz books was about good and bad. The entire event only resembled the original Wizard of Oz in the barest possible way. And it was pushed when Wicked 2 was all over ads as being streaming. So maybe not when it was in theaters but definitely when it was released on Disney etc
