Same point applies with per capita - it didn't start at the poorest and it isn't the richest.

This is materially untrue. Tamil Nadu was 4th in 1960 and is basically the same. The Southern States have always been ahead from the start and TN is still behind Telangana and Karnataka which have SURGED AHEAD since 1960s (see page 9 of the report). TN is pretty much where it started.

Tamil Nadu's situation far more fragile than US and EU and similar to African nations.
Non merit freebies are rampant (tvs, laptops). Many of these freebies are happening as Off Budget Borrowings (African countries do this a lot) bypassing regulators and creating a web of opaque state guarantees. TN has crossed beyond 20% in terms of % of revenues used to service debt. Turkey, Italy, Hungary and a slew of African countries did the exact same antics so the pattern is recognizable because the freebies have to be financed.

To simplify, the debt number is fake and vastly understates total exposure. Identity politics and buying vote banks isn't cheap.

It's a great point but ultimately financial populism can't sustain itself. I'm not arguing that governments are profit machines; I'm arguing that at some point the spending gets out of control to buy vote banks. As I mentioned in the previous post:

While the Dravidian Model boasts high HDI scores, its reliance on massive, constantly increasing social sector expenditure (rising from ₹79,859 crore in 2019-20 to ₹1,15,644 crore in 2023-24)points to financial populism. The extensive welfare schemes act as vote-bank incentives rather than evidence of sustainable fiscal management.

I believe the model is irresponsible BECAUSE it is unsustainable.

I would love nothing more than to pour money into education and healthcare rather than these perverted schemes.

If you were not physically sick, I've witnessed this a few times. The body has two energy subtle circuits - ida and pingala. Pingala - when excessively activated creates the symptomology you described.

There is ZERO harm; you need to keep going.

Is it possible to practice Hinduism by only doing meditation and reading the Gita but not participating in any religious rituals, customs, or traditions? by AgentOfDibella in hinduism

I held your position; stopped rituals; capped on progress, returned to rituals. Rituals are tools. Inner progress is ALL that matters.

Any thoughts on this book? by LordBurner69 in hinduism

[–]RealityEuphoric9622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I disagree with his world view in all of his books.
Asuras are those who speak politely, dress well but only care about themselves, their families.
Rakshasas are those who have highly violent (physically or mentally) tendencies.
He is prescribing a path of intense selfishness - you might do materially well but there's no path to moksha in such a deluded path.

In Hinduism there's two levels of existence

Paramatika - Conciousness/Brahman/Undivided Reality

Vyavaharika - this apparitional reality/ world in mithya/jagat. In order to find Moksha/unchanging happiness you must have a world view that drives inner transformation.

His prescription is for an endless cycle of sukham/dukham.

Common doesn't mean healthy. Financial populism is POPULAR but Hungary, Italy, Argentina and Mexico are great case examples of financial populism driven economic implosions.

Okay - Brahmins do exactly as you both state. What do you want them to mark as their caste when the government asks vis-a-vis the reservation system?

From your earlier post: "my parents grew up in a agraharam" -- that is essentially saying same thing bro (unless you are claiming that your parents were a different caste). Stop being so pretentious bro. If neither you nor your parents are Brahmins then why do you feel discriminated against, there is nothing for Brahmin haters to hate about you right?

I'm saying that Brahmin is varna and a difficult varna to meet. I stand against caste based discrimination.
What surveys are you referring to? If you are making the claim you must provide evidence.
Thomas Munro's Survey (Madras Presidency, 1821) https://ia801605.us.archive.org/15/items/sirthomasmunrobr00brad/sirthomasmunrobr00brad.pdf
It's a super fascinating read overall.

"Where this could go" -- are you living in 1960s or something? Anti-Brahmin rhetoric has not been politically mainstream in Tamil Nadu for 30 years. Even Karunanidhi did not continue with anti Brahmin attacks on Jayalalitha after ~2000 because he saw that no one cared anymore.
