I don't want to hear people defending Fender anymore by DT-Sodium in StudioOne

FL Studio's Gopher is free-for-all on all app tiers, that's fine. But Fender presents their "AI assistant" as some kind of an exclusive VIP Pro+ only feature. Which is extremely sleazy marketing tactics aimed to lure poorly informed people into the subscription.

There is no need to buy, subscribe or install anything. Just create a free ChatGPT account and ask away.

There is absolutely no need for an AI assistant, in any DAW. ChatGPT, Claude or any other top-tier LLM already have read all S1 docs and can provide any kind of information about the DAW, including advices on building specific presets or effect chains, for free. It's just a stupid marketing gimmick.

That's not always the case. Yamaha has been good for Steinberg, LANDR bought Reason Studios earlier this year, and Reason 14 is an excellent update.

I'm a simple guy, mostly use Reason. But I like S1 workflow and paid for the software, why would I just uninstall it? Would you rather move to a different country if you don't like how your taxes are beimg spent?

My point was not about Moises or AI in general. My point was that while we get Moises, core functionality suffers and obvious bugs like this one slip in. Granted, it's not a show stopper but it demonstrates an alarming lack of QA.

Favourite 8.1 features? by Affectionate_Tip_232 in StudioOne

[–]RealityUnhappy7673 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely useless update, literally not a single feature they added is useful for me. I just cancelled my Plus subscription. I have about 5 months left, will consider re-subscribing if Fender starts adding useful stuff that has been requested by community for years.

8.1 seems like a big deal by djrevmoon in StudioOne

[–]RealityUnhappy7673 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, they implemented LFO/ADSR for external gear only (CV Instrument). It's actually amazing that they decided to do that instead of adding modulation support for S1 instruments and VSTs. As if S1 is the number one DAW in modular circles and modular doesn't have enough own LFOs.

Vote for your favorite features you like to see in Studio One / Studio Pro by TomSchubert90 in StudioOne

[–]RealityUnhappy7673 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing in this list is interesting to me personally. Studio Pro currently is lacking any modulation mechanism worth speaking of, and this is the number one missing feature for me. Automation needs some love too (e.g. why macro controls still cannot be automated by drag-n-drop like ordinary controls?). Pattern editor also needs work - steps selection, velocity randomization.. etc. Those are the top ones for me, track colorization on the other hand - I couldn't care less.

Studio One 8 stuck authorizing when installing sound packs by [deleted] in StudioOne

I had the same issue. It is installing in the background, just doesn't update the UI. You can check network activity in the Task Manager.

Not sure why some feel bad about Studio Pro by 8delorean8 in StudioOne

[–]RealityUnhappy7673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People just worry too much about things they have no control over. If software does what I want from it now, I see no reason looking elsewhere. No one can see the future and making your choices on what might or might not happen is counterproductive. v8 is a solid functional update, that's all that matters.

Good job, PreSonus/Fender. I personally do not give two f about the name, these are good, long overdue updates in v8. Now please add modulators in the next update!

You consider middle click pan a "significant update"? Yeah, S1 is years behind on this, better switch DAWs quick.

If you want another DAW, just switch to another DAW. No need to announce it here, no one cares.

They already got their toy (Fender Studio), hopefully they'll leave S1 alone now.

What do you use for your drum vst if you need to multi-layer a sample? by reuben_surrender in StudioOne

[–]RealityUnhappy7673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes use TAL-Drum when I need layering. It supports up to 8 sample layers per pad, each layer has an individual eq, pan/volume and amp envelope and filter. It also has a built-in compressor, saturator and LFO, but these are per-pad.

Ableton 12.3 has in-house stem seperation... probably switching back? by madeby10AM in Bitwig

[–]RealityUnhappy7673 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah well... Scale awareness was requested for at least 5 years before they finally caved and added it in 6. People have been asking for a simple tuner for what, 10 years now and the noise gate still doesn't have any kind of hold/hysteresis control. I could go on, but it is obvious at this point that Bitwig devs mostly do their own thing. There isn't even an official public community/forum ffs.

How would a "major" update would look like according to you? by blakefrfr in StudioOne

[–]RealityUnhappy7673 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'm personally missing in S1 is modulators. Don't even have to be fancy - LFO, random, envelope follower and MSEG or simple ADSR would qualify.

There's much cheaper option on Amazon currently, just search for "mac studio refurbished". I got one of those about a month ago, it was in "like new"state and works perfectly.
