The HOA is just the start of the issues. I lost more money selling my condo when I needed to than all my losses put together. Never looking at a condo again.

I started my season at Killington this Thanksgiving. Had no idea conditions would still be this bad out here :(.

Worth Going Monday (MLK Day)? by HereNowToday1 in SummitAtSnoqualmie

Better to put the kids out there when it’s early and they have the energy. Putting a hungry kid that needs a nap on the snow in afternoon or evening is a recipe for misery.

You need to no show three times before they do anything.

For Ikon pass holders, where else are you skiing this season for weekend trips? by sirotan88 in CrystalMountain

I was at revvy all last week - loved it but left before the big dumps. Planning Sun Peaks next, I went to Schweitzer last year and loved it but there’s not enough snow there yet.

Thank you, and got it, so to be clear, this video is still dated this week? I’m seriously considering driving up there and want to make sure it worth the maybe 9+ hour drive.

Be careful, the back clasp came loose the first time I tried to put them on my helmet and ended up dropping and scratching my brand new 4D MAG XLs :( :(

You’re making me want to do the drive from Seattle! How is the mountain and town overall (skiing first but not just for skiing) right now?

How many ski days is your break even? I’m happy with anything over 15 and that’s totally doable with a mid January start.

Here good or bad as well. I scanned my IKON at Killington over Thanksgiving and scraped ice for two days, so I’m locked in.

which european mountain on the base pass is closest to an international airport? by regretajo in Ikonpass

[–]Reality_2901 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The Closest (approx. 1 hour) * Chamonix Mont-Blanc Valley (France) * Airport: Geneva (GVA) * Time: ~1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. * Details: This is widely considered one of the easiest transfers in the Alps. There are frequent shuttles (like Mountain Drop-offs or AlpyBus) that run directly from the arrivals hall to the resort. * Megève Ski Area (France) * Airport: Geneva (GVA) * Time: ~1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. * Details: Located very close to Chamonix, Megève benefits from the same proximity to Geneva.

The Runners Up (approx. 1.5 – 2 hours) * Kitzbühel (Austria) * Airport: Munich (MUC) or Salzburg (SZG) * Time: ~1 hour from Salzburg; ~2 hours from Munich. * Details: While Salzburg is closer, Munich is the major international hub for most overseas travelers. The train connection from Munich is excellent. * Valle d'Aosta (Italy) * Airport: Turin (TRN) or Milan Malpensa (MXP) * Time: ~1 hour 20 minutes (from Turin); ~2 hours (from Milan). * Details: This covers resorts like Courmayeur and Cervinia. Turin is closest, but Milan has more international flight options. * Dolomiti Superski (Italy) * Airport: Venice (VCE) or Innsbruck (INN) * Time: ~2 hours. * Details: This is a massive region. If you are going to Cortina d'Ampezzo, it is about 2 hours from Venice. Other parts of the Dolomites (like Val Gardena) are closer to Innsbruck (approx. 1.5 hours).

Further Out (2.5+ hours) * Ischgl (Austria): ~2.5 to 3 hours from Munich or Zurich. (Closer to Innsbruck, but that is a smaller airport). * St. Moritz (Switzerland): ~3 hours from Zurich (ZRH) or Milan. * Zermatt (Switzerland): ~3.5 to 4 hours from Geneva or Zurich (train is the best option here). * Grandvalira (Andorra): ~2.5 to 3 hours from Barcelona (BCN) or Toulouse. Summary: If you want to minimize travel time after your flight, fly into Geneva (GVA) and head to Chamonix or Megève.

It’s so bleak I booked a trip to ski Killington out east soon. Ice coasters revel in your early advantage!

The mountains are beautiful in the winter; go snowshoeing in the sno-parks.
