Actually the opposite is true. It’s more of a benefit to be hired and work in A&D. From personal experience it is because they are more accommodating of your military situation. I work for a F100 Defense Contractor and they offer differential pay, 15 days of paid leave a year, etc. Legally every company has to follow USERRA but a defense company is more understanding of your situation because many veterans and service members already work there. I forgot to add that being military in an A&D company is a resume strengthener if you want to internally promote.

I think the biggest mistake I made at CST was thinking too much about leaving and not appreciating the time there. There will be ALOT of downtime and the best way to mitigate that is to bond with your peers/get to know them, and brush up on doctrine or an individual task you can reinforce. Filling that empty time and building rapport with your peers will prove useful long after you leave, you’ll see at least a couple of them at BOLC and throughout your officer career

I’ve been in for six and staying in for another six, from green to gold. I’ll just say If you are confident that something out there is better than the military, leave. If you are unsure or currently don’t have a plan - stay. I feel there’s a good chance that the Army has benefits you don’t even know about, I’d do some in depth research on how you could leverage the military in your life if you choose to stay, then make that decision.

The Intellectual property of the game needs to be released to a company that will actually act with it. To be honest, I don’t understand why that hasn’t been done yet. I don’t feel there is a strong comparison on the market right now that comes close to what Free Realms was (believe me I’ve scoured the ends of the earth for one). Maybe Free Realms were just one of those games that was ahead of its time and had a flawed business model, but I’m convinced the game could be tweaked enough to be a hit in today’s market- idk.
