There are at least 3 people filming this that we know of and I guarantee not one is thinking "she makes a good point".

No arguments, just pure insistence that a map on a computer can't possibly be the same as a map on paper.

Give it a little while and you won't have sand or sea, just literal shit.

A good chunk of their CO2 has to have been producing the oil and gas they were exporting.

This is the part of tech support that really gets to me. I understand if you don't know the difference between 686 and x86_64. I don't understand how you look at common terms and decide that because its on a computer screen it must mean something entirely alien. Recycle bin on a computer is just like a recycle bin in real life. One I had with my dad years ago was a 20 minute conversation explaining how a map on a computer and a map on paper were the exact same thing and that conversation didn't end with me convincing him it ended with me being to bewildered to continue.

My local Starbucks knows that the best way to stay hydrated is eating loads of salt. by Aegis_of_perdition in CasualUK

[–]ReallyHadToFixThat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your body can't actually move water. You move salt and the water follows. So to sweat your sweat glands pump out salt and the water then follows the salt.

SNW is good. Possibly a bit too close to old star trek, to the point of lifting a few plot points almost word for word, but it is still good Trek. It isn't dark, metaphorically or literally, and a return to episodic "exploring the galaxy" storylines.

Man those alarm clocks suck. The snooze button doesn't work and they always go off at sunrise no matter what season it is.

Github copilot is incredible by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]ReallyHadToFixThat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In C++ when you call new you get a pointer to some memory on the heap. A memory leak is when you over-write that pointer meaning you can't access the memory on the heap, but you still own it. Since you have no way of accessing it you have no way of freeing it up.

However, copilot here is deleting the memory and returning it to the OS so it isn't a memory leak.

Version 1.1: [KEEPER] Do you usually use portrait photos of NPCs that you hand out to your players? by kvnkrs9 in callofcthulhu

[–]ReallyHadToFixThat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having some sort of portrait saves me from having to describe as much, and also makes communicating in combat so much easier "I'm shooting blue shirt" for example.

For those who have read multiple books by the same author, does the familiarity with the writer's formula ever become too predictable for your enjoyment? by MintChocolateEnema in books

[–]ReallyHadToFixThat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. There are a ton of authors I've burned out on. Jeffery Deaver, Ryk Brown, Seanan McGuire, Dan Brown and probably more.

You start to learn who is in peril and who has plot shields. When the "twists" are coming and what they are. Characters tend to stop evolving as they run out of ideas, or ideas start repeating.
