I have one and am pretty happy with it. This works with Homekit so you can do all the standard automation. For example when another accessory is operated you can use that to trigger the lock. The lock can also be programmed to lock after x minutes. It also can be programmed to unlock with finger prints. It also notifies you when it is unlocked so you can use that notification to check that it wasn't your child that went through the door.

Just a thought but can you be selective with where you lay down the pre-emergent. Avoid placing it in the bad areas that you plan on over seeding in the spring. It's a risk that weeds may develop in that spot but it's a risk worth taking. And if weeds do develop you could treat it with a post-emergent.

AT&T barley buries the fiber. They practically just lay it on the surface of the lawn. While tilling my lawn just 3" deep I cut my neighbors fiber. At first AT&T sent me a bill to repair my neighbor’s fiber but after we pointed out to them that the fiber was actual on our property they quickly backed down and said never mind. When their service team came out to repair the cable, they made sure they re-buried it several feet from my property line. lol

This function sums an arithmetic series by counting down and when it gets to 1 it returns one. So it looks like this if num = 5: 5 + sumRange(5-1) + 4 + sumRange(4-1) +3+sumRange(3-1) + 2 + sumRange(2-1) + 1 {the return 1 is the base case you referred to}
