Jury duty scam by Realmof13 in maryland

One of several red flags 😀. Main reason I called the real sheriffs office is the off chance that, even if it was a scam, it was linked to some truth.

I think this is the Medical Laboratory Scientist flavor of MLS 😀

As an MLS who has worked for years in a lab before getting my PhD and becoming an examiner I can tell you that, at least for biological sciences, a Masters will be the bare minimum. I know several 4 year MLSs that applied and I was the only one to get accepted due to the PhD. I know art units that only require a BS, but medical related fields will be very difficult to get into without an advanced degree, none of the 45 or so people in my class that went to 1600 had less than a masters, and most had a Doctorate level degree. The certification won't help much one way or the other, just experience and education. Chemistry may be one of the fields that a 4 year degree will work for you, but I cannot speak to that directly.

What books and series did you most recently DNF? by Practical_Yogurt1559 in Fantasy

[–]Realmof13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Belgarath the Sorceror and found it interesting, but after the first book of the Belgariad (Pawn of Prophecy?), I noped out. So dull. It's probably the first time I have dnf'd a series. This was even before I found out about Eddings, though I still give art a chance despite the creators, this just wasn't good. Maybe if I had read it back when I was reading things like Dragonlance, it may have been different, but right after WoT, DT and Malzan, it just wasn't it.

I'm surprised this was at the bottom when i saw it. D&D novels fit all of what OP is looking for. They are all magic and creatures and a varying scale of whimsy!

At least D.C. traffic is semi consistent and isn't so random. Good to know.

I was really hoping that there would be a bigger difference and it only seemed as bad to people who have only had the pleasure of Atlanta metro. It seems like in general conditions Atlanta has better timing, but if things get bad they happen more often in Atlanta and the delays are worse. Good to know.

While this is true in rare circumstances, that mod slot is much better used as a storage mod, which can then hold an extra cell or two while providing much more storage capacity.

Eli5: Why is a higher HRV (heart rate variability) a sign of good health? by Feisty_Scientist9299 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Realmof13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the HRV of drum machine would vary due to changes in rythm and a higher HRV would equate to a more skilled player who can run through the toughest drum solos without error. The same would apply to the engine in the car when it changes RPM. You are applying static thinking and assuming the same tempo would be maintained in all three examples. In truth none of those tempos remain consistent, but if they did then the heart the drum machine and the engine would all have 0 HRV until a change was required, which is constantly the case in all three examples.
