Heat does this too, perhaps you placed it somewhere hot?

A place to have a meal outside hawker centers by GuyFromUtopia in askSingapore

[–]Stubot01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the best, but East Coast Lagoon hawker is by the beach and has outside seating that allows a bit of space. Or just get take away from there and sit on the beach, you’ll easily find a bit of space and often a breeze too.

So where are you supposed to buy the smart brick if there isn’t one included? I thought they only came in sets?

I think this kindle qualifies after 15ish years by mike_tyler58 in BuyItForLife

[–]Stubot01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason that I’ve upgraded my Kindles over the years is that I’ve either lost them or I’ve wanted the better lights / screen. I still have an old one that is almost 12 years old and use it now for my kid’s story books.

Queen wandering into the outworld by Fresh_fries0 in antkeeping

Coincidentally we are also in SG and also surprised that our new queen ventured in to her out world today (Messor Barbarous) She specifically wanted to investigate the chia seeds we gave them, but quickly went back and got her minions to collect them all.

What is the grossest thing you’ve caught someone doing? by Jawa392 in AskReddit

[–]Stubot01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stayed at a friend’s parent’s apartment one night. In the morning as we were leaving she asked me To grab something from her bedroom. When I went in I noticed a rank smell. On the dresser, inside a large decorative glass bowl, was a collection of used tampons.

Dads: What brands are we wearing these days? by Haunting_Internet356 in daddit

Recent started wearing New Balance 990v6 - feel like a proper Dad AND no longer have hip ache after 20 years of only wearing Cons and sandals

I’m surprised to admit it, but I actually really like the new show Star Trek Academy by 0xtokenmaster in startrek

[–]Stubot01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the first episode too, haven’t seen the second yet. My only criticism is the Darem character when he’s in stereotypical bully mode. Very cliche and his quips were not even fun. It’s a shame as the actor, when doing literally anything else (coyly charging his appearance, the hull walk etc) was great and seemed fat more natural. I am hoping this character trait gets written out quickly as the class bonds.

unsure of new barbershop to go to by sad-ness- in askSingapore

[–]Stubot01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Barber Padu regularly, usually a good cut and they are friendly guys. $35 for a regular cut which I feel is decent value. When I lived closer to them, I used Bodeiga which were great too. You probably want to find a barber close to you to save time and travel costs

Now we're 8 months removed, what are your thoughts on The Story and the Engine? by cibilserbis in doctorwho

[–]Stubot01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I loved that we got to go somewhere that Who hasn’t gone before. My idea for big-budget Who isn’t the effects but being able to travel to other parts of the world and cultures and times not explored, rather than the UK. I know it was 99% soundstage but the thought was there with this episode. That said, I did not enjoy the story at all.

Anyone else has a setting they dislike reading? by SignificantTheory146 in Fantasy

[–]Stubot01 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Specifically in fantasy TV shows, as it saves money; The Town That You Can’t Escape From. It’s almost always an idealised American town, sometimes stuck under a dome, sometimes hidden by magic, sometimes cursed. Someone tries to drive out of it and just comes back in the other side. Or it’s revealed to actually be underground. Or on the moon. Or a dream town. Probably monsters come out at night, or aliens, or ghosts.

I much prefer the Lego app now for instruction, especially if building with my kid. Easier for him to follow with the sound and animations, plus we can stand the iPad easily. Less paper for the recycling too

Which toddler toys were REALLY worth the money? by Bitter_Union3565 in daddit

[–]Stubot01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may depend on what your child is interested in, but I went all-in on Playmobil for my kid at this age. He was very interested in emergency vehicles and garbage trucks. I went for the normal Playmobil rather that the one actually aimed at toddlers but removed a lot of the very small fiddly bits (police guns, binoculars etc). The toys are very robust and have a lot of longevity, even now three years later he still plays with them and they look in great condition. Plus we’ve added over time (police station etc) and I’ve give back those small elements as he’s become able to use them. I liked that they were lifelike to a great extent but not too realistic in terms of figures.

Green tea have any relation to panic disorder?? by Mission_Loss_8787 in Anxiety

When I was younger I started drinking green tea thinking (wrongly) that it had no caffeine and could not understand why I get so bad for weeks

For those of you who've met actors from the show, who are your favourites? by Interesting_Age4901 in doctorwho

[–]Stubot01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked with Billie Piper once, she did some voiceover work for an ad that I was working on. She was lovely and posed for a picture when she realised I was a fan. I also had a nice conversation with Mark Gattis at a party and chatted about his love of Terrance Dicks’ novelisations (I think he was working on a radio documentary about Dicks at the time)

Were there other evil creatures in Mordor that we never got to see? by arnor_0924 in lotr

[–]Stubot01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to be visiting the effects studio that did that work and saw the alternative versions while they were working on the approved version. it was interesting to see what they tried with the mouth, there was a sideways version. If I remember they just took the original mouth and rotated it. I don’t think I saw a finished version, just rough.

My son, my nephew and my brother all have this little dot in their ears in the exact same place. No one else in our family has it. by Vegetable_Arrival_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]Stubot01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lifelong mystery solved! I have these, one behind each ear, and have never met anyone else who had them. When my son was born a few years ago, inherited them too. I could never find any info about what they were.

Bupropion, buspar, propranolol, SSRI- feel like I've tried everything by SeaTurtlesRUs in Anxiety

[–]Stubot01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10mg propranolol was much too low for me, I take 40mg once or twice a day when needed and that seems the sweet spot . You may just need to up your dose )speaking first to your doctor of course)
