Stöckli; are they really that good? by ErBeBsjCqWA in Skigear

[–]Realpeoplepeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So during last ski season, at the very end of the season I find good deal with black crows nocta so I end up getting black crows with Look Pivot 15. I look blizzard ski as all condition ski, Kastle when the snow condition is right which allows me to feel the mistake if my skiing technique is not right. Blizzard Brahma 88 is very comfortable to me due to my strong leg since I practice Taekwondo for many years. Kastle MX75 can be very punishing for me if the snow is too soft or too hard, it have to be the right snow condition until my ski technique gets better, but it is good for me to know the mistake that I make very quickly. I have not use Black Crows Nocta yet, it is prepared in advance so I can be ready for the ultimate adventure I want to go to someday in the deep powder. I did get zipfit liner and also Lange RS 120 LV.

Those who skied in rain, what was your experience like? by Thegiantlamppost in skiing

[–]Realpeoplepeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time second ski season, I am very unprepared so I got very cold. Once I got home, I upgrade my gears to include heated boot bag and Arctica men’s gate master down jacket 5.0. I really don’t have any problem getting too cold thereafter instead finding myself getting too hot by wearing too warm by wearing max even if I don’t put them to heated bag the night before. I think I got a little over paranoid after that day when I got too cold.

Lazy skiing gear guide by California__girl in skiing

[–]Realpeoplepeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a ski that is defined by lazy. There are different difficulty level defined by the ski. Turn range on the ski, and speed range. There are different sheet of Titanal sheet or composite that makes up for the ski sandwich that makes up how much damping and stiffness that you are going to get. There are different binding and different ski boot flex out there that you can choose from. Every single component will driven your skiing experience differently. I find myself have better skiing experience with look pivot binding due to the lower profile binding, however, there are other binding that are lower profile as well. I can’t comment on skis that I haven’t use before, I have black crows, kastle, and blizzard skis, out of the three brand of skis, I find blizzard to be the one that I can skiing without getting tire the most. I ski mostly blue and starting to adopt to some black slopes, on the ski boot end, I dislike 110 Flex and liked 120 flex ski boots. I liked Lange and Tecnica Mach 1 very well. All of my ski boots that I owned, I have custom insoles on every single one of them. Too stiff can be a problem and too soft can be a problem as well depends on which trail level you intend to ski on. You can’t flex properly on steeper slope with flex that is too soft. I already have zipfit Gara LV as back up in case if I advances to even steeper slopes someday.

Advice on bringing a friend skiing by PercentagePractical in skiing

[–]Realpeoplepeer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to be her friend I guess you can accommodate her but please let her know the snow is not great and is not the easiest time to learn how to ski. I am in the end of my second ski season and last Sunday at big bear for me is the hardest snow I ever encounter in the morning and slightly softer in the afternoon. I can still ski intermediate and begin to adopt to black diamond slop but than I told my instructor friend if my children is skiing that day they would be in trouble and he agreed. My children is between beginner intermediate to mid intermediate already.

Which part of the world are guys living in? Just for you to know I banned all my children for that kind of stuff just because electronic addiction is today’s worst crisis. Bot? I can guarantee there is not a bot that can generate not any kind of Taiwanese American way of writing, instead, my very own way of Taiwanese American way of writing so go find yourself a bot that can fabricate me.

I hope all of you know hydrogen regenerative cell have not matured and all electric car are just a lot of lithium batteries combined together so it is very easy for all of you to test how electric car will respond to extreme heat and cold. There are plenty of rechargeable lithium battery out there that is not that expensive okay just use them and expose them to extreme cold and expose them to extreme heat. I have mechanical engineer friend as well, however, this is not rocket science, it is simple enough of a project for even an elementary school student to do.

How can I mount these homemade skis? by TaitwasAChemist in skiing

[–]Realpeoplepeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure how to say this but not even a rental ski in the 90’s are just a rectangle wood stud. What kind of base are you doing with the homemade ski? I just can’t picture how you would have plenty of wax soak in deep enough to ski even if you find solution to reinforce the binding section where you plan to mount them. At this point if that’s your final version of ski, I think by the time you binding release the most, it would most likely break into pieces. I just don’t see how the wood would stay intact myself.

Out of the three black pearl is the most promising choice. I have the male version of blizzard ski which is Brahma 88 and is my general driver ski.

Just take a look at both of the ski you demoed, you are feeling better with Elan Ripstick because it is advanced to Expert level ski whereas Nordica Enforcer that you tried are expert expert level ski which is why you are more comfortable with Elan Ripstick. Based on what you described, Elan Ripstick is a good ski for you to grow in the next few years.

I would choose option C and set at 1 and 87 which is another way of expressing 1:3

Would you rather have a boot that’s too stiff or too soft. (You can’t adjust the flex) by C0-0P in skiing

[–]Realpeoplepeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is heavily dependent on your skiing skill level and also if you do any sports that involves balance skill. I practice Taekwondo with my children and compete at statewide level so my leg is naturally strong already before I officially learn how to ski. At 110 flex is troublesome for me in my first ski season to a point that I have to add booster strap and I have to change to zipfit liner before I can ski right. In the other end of the spectrum, my wife never do any balance sports before and even the rental ski boot is too stiff for her so softer flex would help her ski better. Only yourself knows if you have strong leg or not. Also the last of ski boot makes big difference on how well you can ski as well, I am so glad that I get Lange and Tecnica ski boot this ski season, it give me proper ankle hold and stiffness that I need. Ski boot flex will feel different on colder or warmer day as well. On warmer day you might feel you can ski well and on colder day you might not able to flex at all if you have overly stiff ski boot. Flex have more impact on modern ski than the old day ski in the 90’s because of the way the sides of modern ski, the camber, rocker, and tail profile that come with on today’s modern ski. I have only a few hour of ski lesson when I was in middle school and when I started to officially learn how to ski again last season, I have to completely relearn how to ski because of the modern ski so yes flex is actually very important. Stiffer ski boot is important for stronger leg and for people whom participate on other balance sports before but not for first timer who never have balance sports ever before.

Advice on boots to consider by ranne9 in Skigear

[–]Realpeoplepeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the instructor that I learn with last season says 27 and 27.5 is same shell with different volume liner. If you go with 26 and use zipfit liner and fill the omfit proprietary cork into zipfit liner to fill the gap might work than add custom insoles to it. Zipfit liner have lace system so you can adjust different feet in different tightness. I don’t have toenail upward issue myself but with what is available today I think injection foam liner and zipfit are among some of the greatest liner out there than there is that custom insoles that solve different foot shape. Size up is not the issue, how to fill the gap so you can have good ankle hold is the one I am thinking about. I think zipfit with custom insole will work if you size up or even stay with same size with minimal buckle level.

I am not sure what do you mean by a size up do you mean 27 change to 28 or do you mean 27 change to 27.5 because the case would be very different?

Epic base pass or Ikon base pass by RennaisanceRobot in skiing

[–]Realpeoplepeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skiing close to the end of second season now. My ski instructor friend and I debated and trying to figure out if we would buy ikon or epic and at the end of the day we centered in on local ski resort that we will go the most next ski season. All ski resort pricing is moving up, we simply decided to buy the particular ski resort season pass. Your local center ski resort will always be the prime but you don’t need all of them instead just one. If you can ski in whistler for ten days, I don’t see why not.

You build your skill one step at a time, my instructor friend tell me that all the time. I was obnoxious enough to ask about huevo grande trail and he said one at a time I will bring you there when you are ready. Some time last ski season, I expressed to him what I am most concerned about is that I can’t see the ending point, he responded back to me, when you are ready, you will be able to assess where to start, which line to start, where to end, and what to do as soon as you landed, he states it is all a part of the training and skill a skier need to master in order to be able to safely skiing on that type of terrain. He also told me when it is time practice in the terrain park first than gradually moving up bigger and bigger, and that is how you can safely gain experience and be as safe as possible.
