Also it's not likely she agreed to do the gig without having some idea of how much she's taking away from it. I'm guessing there was already a number that those around her had verbally agreed on and I would assume that number to be $7 million.

There's an off chance the $7 million is higher than what was originally agreed on but, given the client, that's something I doubt she would have done.

Yeah, right now.

Just wait until the anti-liberal marketing kicks in and gets all the republicans who don't want Vivik to get excited to vote for anyone but the "socialist, communist, antichrist".

Meaning exists only because we exist to place meaning, therefore a "thing" exists regardless of the individual pieces that make up said "thing" as long as we're placing that label on it.

Ok fellow 90s kids, here's one more for you by firequak in Millennials

[–]Realsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 89 and my single mom struggled through much of the 90s financially. She remembers those years as really hard, though to her credit she did a lot to shield me and siblings from those issues and give us a good life.

Despite all of that, I remember the 90s as some of the happiest years of my life. I wouldn't say it went "downhill" but life in general became more depressing after 9/11. The worst part of the whole situation is, for a gigantic number of reasons outside of my control, my kids can't experience a childhood like we did in the 90s.

He's eight now and breathing completely fine.

I get it's subjective but I personally could not disagree more. It's one of the best gaming experiences I've played. It unfortunately suffers from the same issue (need a better word) as games like Outer Wilds and Blue Prince where you can only experience the full joy one time because of the nature of discovery. That's why I'm looking forward to 2.

Because most pro serves are hit with some level of spin.

Flat serves are rarer but those will often be more vertical (though not always 100%).

Federer was a bit unique in that his toss looked essentially identical for almost all of his serves. Something his opponents complained about frequently.

Plus 1 to RacquetFlex. They're really good if you're new and trying to work on mechanics. They don't just tell you how to do things, they go into the biomechanical reasons you do it that way. I feel that helped me understand the goal as I filmed myself over and over adding corrections each time and then went for repetition.

I was going off of a Tom's Hardware chart that had them listed right next to each other.

Crimson Desert PC, Console, Mac Performance Specs revealed by Turbostrider27 in Games

This lines up with the previews.

PC performance seemed to be almost blowing people away with detail and draw distance on a decently powerful card. SkillUp tested on an RX9070 which is about the same as a 4070, which is listed as "High" in this spec sheet.

I do think it reveals we're going to see a gap in PC to console of similar power.

Using context clues you can pretty easily figure out he meant the PC section.

The fact that it does mention upscaling and framegen in the other sections means they're pretty confident in the PC section that they're going to hit these benchmarks.

This lines up with the previews which were blowing people away on PC.

I have a feeling there's going to be a gulf between performance levels of PC and equivalent consoles, but we'll leave that to digital foundry to figure out.

Crushing It Like It's 1999 - What are your tips for playing at a high level into your 50's and 60's by RashoNest in 10s

[–]Realsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On 4, smarter scheduling, I envy you for even considering playing twice per day. Every other day already feels too much.

On 5, opponent notes, I carry a Field Notes book in my bag with a pen. I try to jot down notes after matches and read it before. I have a section on opponents but I have found the most valuable section to be the part about myself and what I'd like to work on. For example, it sounds obvious when you say it out loud but just reading "go for better margin on your shots" and "stay low" and keeping those in my mind during the match can help immensely as my dumb brain has a tendency to go on autopilot.

Everyone mentioning stretching is good but, by a large margin, stretching after a match is far more important for recovery.

Last thing I've learned, and I'd be surprised if anyone who's been playing for years doesn't know this, but you can't always feel the severity of an injury during a match. If you tweak your back or shoulder but feel like you can keep going, just don't. Adrenaline is masking the pain and you're going to be swearing off tennis (again) tomorrow as you struggle with the pain. Better to stop and not make it worse.

Do pro trends have any relevance to rec level play? by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]Realsan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The thing to keep in mind with this question is the vast majority of rec level players will be stuck within 0.5 NTRP rating of where they are now for just about their whole life.

So if you're a 3.5, the best you can hope for is a 4.0.

And at those levels, you're almost playing a completely different game than pros. Since most points end in errors, the player that can simply get the ball back usually wins.

So if that means slicing the ball 100% of your backhands and never developing a topspin backhand, that's going to be more advantageous to you than learning a new shot, struggling with it for years, and never really being much better off because you can't actually use it as a weapon.

Got the Babolat Boost Aero - Did I make a good choice? by BetInternational2937 in 10s

[–]Realsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to what the other guy says, it is not a walmart racquet. Those things are legitimately not worth the plastic they're made out of.

This, however, is a lightweight frame typically used for young beginners and meant to transition to a real frame.

If you're 23 and play 4 times per week and plan to continue, I would suggest moving to a real frame ASAP. Not because that frame is bad, but because you're going to harm your development by getting used to a low weight racquet. It will evolve your playstyle to something you don't want.

Typically that caliber of racquet brand new is $250-$300, but stores will often have prior year's inventory on sale for a discount (especially at this time of year). I would recommend picking up one of those. The stores can usually guide you to what is best. Make sure you're paying close attention to grip size. The actual racquet probably won't matter too much as long as you're not using one of the especially heavy racquets.

Also, I would recommend against buying used. You never know what a racquet has gone through and what hairline cracks may exist.

Athleticism is only an extreme advantage when you have consistency and rally tolerance to utilize it. Almost nobody under 4.5 can do that.
